I don't really have any words left about the way what we were watching has been twisted beyond all recognition by those involved in making it. I really, honestly, just have no words left for this. I am completely talked out about my rage and my incredulity and my whatever else it is I've got that I can't find the words for anymore. I was watching a different show, dudes, a show with respect for the characters and the relationships and the world that was created and the messages that were sent. How did I let that happen? When did that happen? What a fucking joke that was. Ha ha.

It's no wonder I want to buy the man a pony, really. For fuck's sake, he's been through enough shit.

JB is doing a "look there, shiny" kinda thing, I don't blame him cause in a way, if the fans are angry and saying we won't watch TW anymore, BBC wouldn't see a point investing in it. I think the renewal is just a rumor at this point, to gauge reactions. Actors come out, be witty, do interviews and try to sell us their show all the time, it's just with the way RTD pissed off the fans, JB is having a much harder time winning the fans back.

Honestly, I think this proves your prediction that Jack is not coming back and JB might think it's a bit unfair that everyone is all over Ianto's death (and nobody talks about poor Jack's fate), but he will miss out on a fan outcry when Jack makes his exit in Who.

Of course that's okay. Like I said above, I think is is just a clear indication that TPTB have no idea WHY we're so angry.

You know, I've had this niggling feeling over recent years, as DVD commentaries and creator interviews become more numerous, that maybe it's not such a good thing to know/see/hear so much about the artists whose work we enjoy. Because then you get stuff like this.

I've done a couple promotional interviews myself, and after one of them, my husband said, "You're too normal. They don't want to hear that this is just another job to you, they want to believe there's some sort of magic and glamour going on when you do it."

Whether that's true or not, it does point up the fact that promotion is just another kind of performance, and one that may not fit in with what we see in the art itself (or with reality). Indeed, that probably won't.

They may love playing these parts, they may genuinely love the show, but I really feel they're not as invested in them as we are. It's a job to them, and part of their job is 1) to make the best of what the writers give them and 2) when doing publicity, to act like the work they're doing is the greatest thing EVER. Whether they actually think so or not.

This just makes me feel that maybe this enormous supply of behind-the-scenes info isn't such a great thing.

I really think they should just shut the fuck up because ATM each one of them looks like is making an atrocious effort to alienate people.

I don't think it is that great a thing, no. And with the speed of the interwebs, there's no time for anyone to analyse and distill exactly what the reactions are, so you end up with someone like JB being told to get out there and calm things down, get people back on board when he's not really got any idea what he's responding to or why people fell off the boat in the first place.

Well JB did refer to GDL as 'the cast member who's gone' or something like that during the panel so I'm not really surprised that he would be even more dismissive of the character GDL was playing. It's odd how differently they're treating this to the Tosh and Owen deaths.

Dude, I may have made a few pie jokes about GDL in my time, but I've never gone so far as to imply that making out with him would be anything even remotely approaching a chore or a punishment or indeed anything other than a pleasant experience, ciggy smell notwithstanding. Well, I'm not really that surprised. JB is just a whore for attention and money and doesn't employ his brain to think of anything beyond that. I suppose we thought he would show friendship and support for his co-star, but it turned out we thought wrong.

I don't entirely know what to make of it, but one thing that occurs to me is that he says it when the interviewer starts to go down the Gwen/Jack route. The interviewer says "So, now it's just Jack and Gwen" and JB jumps in and says, "yes but we gotta find Jack a new piece of arse, OK? Right? " It did sound a bit like he wanted to point out it will be someone new.

However, really bad move, I notice the comments below it were not happy, then a few are saying, look he's just joking. Still lacking tact or something.

Because gods forbid we get an actual character we can can develop an emotional attachment to in order to provoke a reaction next time the writers kill him (and it will be a him; better press, et al.) off to prove what a Big Boy Show they're writing.

I agree. An expression like 'piece of ass' is not only quite insulting to the character of Ianto and the actor who played him, but also insulting to anybody who would be the next love-interest of Capt Jack.

Oh, it's tacky and insulting, and JB darling needs to acquire a clue, but it's SO VERY JB. He's about pissing himself laughing at his cleverness, and the interviewer is just like "wot?". He's TRYING to be funny and make light (I mean, he just said Ianto was "gassed by an alien fart").

I'm so not taking it seriously.

I mean, really. Someone pointed out the 456 looked like three big poultry heads, and it would make a great turducken. At this point, as far as I'm concerned, series 3 is just one big old shark that's been jumped.

Dude. I so need a Catherine Tate icon with a very, very bovvered face. So, JB's gone from toeing the company line with how it's graaaaand that Jack and Ianto having this relationship to Ianto just being a piece of ass.

Just.. what..? Dude. We get to mourn Tosh and Owen for so long -understandably and yeah, I miss them like whoa- even to have Gwen's little 'morning' in Day One but Ianto's been back burned again to a piece of ass/casual sex/desk fodder for Jack to insert his peen into.
