Obviously, I AM watching Who, and I enjoyed Partners in Crime far more than I was afraid of.
There were a few failed comedy moments, Russell's good at those, but overall it was a nice tight introductory Russell script, as the season openers usually are. I don't really have much to say about it, so I quizzed Beckett instead, who has watched the episode about 6 times now, so I figure he's more of an expert. Beckett Archer Reeds, the sofa critic's random comments follow the picture of the author, relaxing at home.

Beckett on what he liked about the episode: "I liked the all the FATS and the QUIET TALKING" (in reference to the Doctor and Donna's through the window conversation) "... and I like the tunnel and the music," in reference to the opening credits, which have always been Beckett's favourite bit of any episode.
His main worry was "Why did the lady fall into BITS?" and "Did the Doctor put her back together?", and his more general concern was "Where is the Doctor's Martha?", Martha being Beckett's firm favourite. Questions of "What is a foster mother?" were also on his mind, and the most pressing matter seemed to be "Why did Donna throw her keys in the BIN?? That's silly. Keys go in pockets and cars."
Overall Beckett rating of Partners in Crime: "I want one with Martha! Get me one!"
So there you go.
