Random Torchwood shizzle, yo...

The question attached to the picture: Do they just keep those cyberschematics hanging around the autopsy bay to annoy Ianto? Do they point at them and go "LOL!" every once in a while?- Darryn says his ideal Season Three of Torchwood would get rid of everyone except Tosh and bring in Martha's sister and a character from Season One, in other words, and I quote: "Tish, Tosh, Denby-Ashe and a strapon."
- What I've read now about episode 11 and the rest of the season... meh. Whatever. I give up.
That was it, really. I don't know why I even bothered.

Date: 2008-03-15 02:23 am (UTC)Oh, and it transpires Andy was in love with Gwen. Because EVERYONE'S in love with Gwen, obviously.
Except Ianto. Who's in love with Jack. I bet they don't even allow him the dignity of being the one to end it. FAIL.
why does a bed-scene have more substance....
Date: 2008-03-15 12:24 pm (UTC)A world-saving prime-time action hero is officially having it off with his sidekick. I don't care where that is - bed, desk, whatever.....it's all good (to me),
max.
(And saying RTD has a responsibility to show only healthy, wonderful gay relationships (with any complexity or fucked-upness smoothed out) is like saying black writers are only allowed to write black characters who are "role models". That's tokenism in my book.)
Tosh got a scene in bed with Tommy
Date: 2008-03-15 12:26 pm (UTC)That wasn't a long-term thing.
Re: Tosh got a scene in bed with Tommy
Date: 2008-03-16 06:19 am (UTC)I'm not BEING SHOWN anything to tell me this relationship is anything other than PURELY CARNAL, while I AM being shown that IANTO IS OBVIOUSLY IN LOVE WITH JACK. The idea of that makes me uncomfortable, and if you've ever been in a relationship or known anyone in a relationship where they want love but they'll settle for sex, you'll know why.
Re: why does a bed-scene have more substance....
Date: 2008-03-15 09:31 pm (UTC)What I've been waiting for is tangible proof that there was more to this relationship than a boss fucking his infatuated, hero-worshipping subordinate over a desk. Because I think it makes said boss look like a bit of a manipulative, abusive arsehole. Bed scene, date, dinner, conversation, anything. Apparently that's not going to happen.

He also said Gwen's actions are really questioned. I'm liking this more and more.
In fact, that silly bouquet thing has me thinking the subtext I saw in SB might have actually, you know, been subtext and not my eyes seeing it through Janto-colored glasses. Or I am just seeing things. It's really crazy. I'm not a shipper by nature, but I really want to see those crazy kids give it a go.

Date: 2008-03-18 05:52 am (UTC)The thing I don't get is, it seems that they recognized really early how good the GDL/JB chemistry was. And they started acting on it pretty fast (the episode 4 kiss of life). So, why did they even bother with all this Jack/ Gwen stuff if no one really saw it to begin with? At least, not after episode 3. It just makes them all look like assholes. The characters, the writers, the producers, and even the actors for going along with it.
And the "it really isn't meant to be romantic" thing only goes so far. That may be true, but lots of people can and have reasonably interpreted that stuff to be romantic, so it might as well be.
Where is Uncle Rusty's head anyway? Maybe he's got it shoved so far up the Doctor's ass he can't see that he's letting the mothership hurt its spin-offs. And that just makes me not happy with Doctor Who, and nothing is supposed to do that. Ever. I feel like he's taking away my possible enjoyment of season 4.
And all this over fake, television relationships. I feel like a mad woman over this show sometimes.

Date: 2008-03-18 03:04 pm (UTC)I think that they (alliterating much?)needed to trow a bone to "homophobicly" inclined part of the audience in order to not to loose them. As frustrated as I am by that whole Gwen's "humanity" angle(read: I will screw with Owen, pine for exciting boss, but go back home to "borin, reliable Rys- cuz I'm human dam it!)
I can understand PTB desire to appeal to the wider audience, It doesn't mean that I don't cringe every time I see a meaningful, emotional scene between the two of them. *Jack you asshole, you should be sharing that crap with -looking good in the suit but better with out it-Ianto*
And on the other note, I don't think that actors have much saying in what direction their characters are taken.

Date: 2008-03-18 06:01 pm (UTC)Ep 1: Jack attempts to resume sekrit sexytiems at work. Ianto declines. Jack asks for a date.
Ep 2: Jack and Ianto flirt. Growling ensues. Crickets chirping re: date.
Ep 3: Ianto seeks reassurance that Jack won't leave for better, omnisexytiems in parts unknown. Jack reassures Ianto that he loves them all and wouldn't change a thing. Ianto attempts to remove Jack's tonsils with his tongue. Sexytiems resume.
Ep 4: Ianto tries to pretend that Jack isn't going batshit insane over losing Gwen to Rhys.
Ep 5: Ianto confesses to Jack that he has found new meaning through work...and Jack. Few remain in doubt that Ianto loves his Jack not just for sexytiems but for all times. Jack mimics the sound of crickets chirping but kisses his beloved disciple in whom he is well pleased on his forehead.
Ep 6 - 13: Non-sekrit sexytiems happen primarily off camera, presumably at work, but with a running commentary from the team. Ianto continues to insist it's not just sexytiems while catching bouquets and modeling bridal gowns. Jack mimics the sound of crickets chirping.
I freely admit that I'm assuming facts not fully in evidence about episodes 11-13. Indulge me, though. How is this relationship 'slow burn' for the series? Isn't the same relationship they had last series except now the team knows about it? Or am I crazy?
