THIS! It wasn't the actor, it was the writer dragging it down. The writer who didn't believe in coherent narrative and kept making the Doctor say what he wanted to say.

Now the show's in the hands of the guy who keeps winning Hugos for it, who manages to love it even when he's parodying it. He may end up disappointing us in other ways - I don't like the new theme - but his storytelling instincts are solid.

This had more of the story-telling feel that DW should have, told in a way that makes you hear the story and that's what I was hoping for. The preview stories look good, as well. Matt really looks and sounds the part, and I can't wait for the next episode.

One wee gripe (just me being a tradionalist and I know I should let it go) is don't change the theme tune, it's not just a theme tune, it's THE theme tune.

I have to say didn't grow to despise Ten. He wore on me with all the angst, but I still loved him. It's kind of like a relationship where you know things aren't quite right, and your friends tell you that your guy is a tool. You're heart broken when it ends.

And then you meet HIM. And he pretty much wipes away everything you felt about the last guy. You know this guy is the one.

I think Eleven is going to be MY doctor. He is the first that I'll be watching entirely real time. With this charismatic man and Moffat's incredible talent, we're in for a treat.

Matt inspired me to make my first icon with text. What do you think? Honest opinion. I want to get better at this.

I don't like the font. That's probably not the most surprising remark from me. I like how you colour matched the font to his t-shirt, that's a great detail that ties the icon together, and you have given it the right amount of shading so it's properly legible against the background. All those things are good, I just don't like the font, it's messy. Especially how the T hits the u at the start, there's a big blob there, and it's one of those fonts that looks bad in all caps, there are very few fonts that actually look GOOD in all caps except your standard ones.

My major peeve with the font and the use of it here, is that it's one of those playful fonts that's sort of halfway between script and typeface, and while those sorts of fonts can work as, say, a black header on a white page, as soon as you start giving them colour and, in this case, tilting them, they look like there's something wrong with them, they look messy and like YOU, the icon maker, have done something stupid in the way of spacing or placement or whatever, when in fact you haven't, it's just the font looking kind of crappy because that's how it looks.

Apart from the font, I quite like it. It has a colour scheme which is kind of muted and matching and that's really easy on the eyes.
