See?

Russell also quashed rumours that a fourth series of Torchwood had been greenlit: “There is nothing definite yet despite what John Barrowman keeps telling everyone. Get down, boy! But we wouldn’t want him any other way. Maybe there'll be something to tell you in the New Year.”

LOL, Russell, you're the one that keeps pimping this fuck awful idea out every time you open your mouth. Maybe the Beeb told you to tone it down a bit?

Guys: THERE IS NO S4 OF TORCHWOOD.

I saw that tweet as well. I'm beginning to think they're just messing with us as well. First JB is really excited and saying there will be 13 eps and now this. Sure doesn't seem like anyone is excited to announce a S4 of Torchwood. I don't think having DW final eps has anything to do with this, as some people think. Perhaps they've all changed their minds and decided not to have a series 4. At least have the balls to say that. Sheesh..

Does he ever. I just wish they'd make up their minds. Not that I plan on watching, I just want to prepare myself for the fandom war between the people who loved CoE and those who hated it (I've seen fights between those two groups on Amazon.com's product review page).

Isn't it kind of sad that this is making me happy? I'm still giggling.

I'm all for conspiracy theories, but I keep thinking that JB and RTD are talking about different TWs. One with Jack but without RTD at the helm (past adventures), the other with RTD but without Jack (Gwenwood). Seems to me they are trying to get the Beeb on their respective sides if their is a S4 at all.

RTD is being disingenous. They've already started casting (for guest roles at any rate) for S4. The process of greenlighting is so convoluted and time-consuming, it's not as simple as yes, no, or still waiting for a decision. It can take a lot of time to go from, "yes definitely it will happen" to "yes and everything is signed, sealed and delivered" and usually things are not announced to the general public till long after everything is signed, sealed and delivered.

No there is no S4. Thing is, they will have been asked to commit if there is one, that's all.

We have an election coming, the BBC will wait now as their funding may be affected. Also I think if there is more TW, it will be mini series, no matter what JB says. Their most popular shows are only ever about 6 episodes at most.

I want an S4 and a full complement of episodes.

I didn't LOVE CoE; the plotholes bugged the crap out me and it was too much poli-drama vs. sexy sci-fi cracktacularfest, but my enjoyment of the series didn't really... hinge on Ianto continuing to be in it. I like the character, but I like Jack and Gwen as well.

I think it sounds like they're in discussions and it isn't finalized. I see the comment above that says they're actually casting guest stars. Ooh! That sounds pretty definite. It does seem weird that RTD was so free with his confident comments about an S4 earlier and now he's pulling back.

I don't see anything more in this than RTD going "Woah! there is no s4 until I THE EMPEROR OF THE WHONIVERSE say so and settle my own salary negotiations." - my own personal nasty hope is that BBC Wales tells him to stay the eff away from Cardiff and let them do it themselves.

**Rolls eyes** I'm glad RTD still thinks Barrowman is cute.

To be honest, I would love for there to be a S4. I loved CoE too.

Ugh. All this back and forth about S4, but I just can't see why the BBC would not want to make more Torchwood, or have RTD's involvement, when it was apparently so successful. Yes, I am a clueless n00b.

ooh. sad about Torchwood series. Sad about team disaster. Terrified of RTD now. So much for a show i could get behind.

Until I see an actual bona fide BBC press release, JB and RTD and Uncle Tom Cobbeley and all can tell me there's a S4 and I won't believe it.

Will there be an S4? Dunno. The ratings were good in the UK, but what about in the US and other countries, cos that's where they make the money. And if there is one, they won't start filming until later on in 2010, so we won't see it until late 2010 at the very very earliest, so at least 18 month between broadcast of S3 and S4. Don't strike while the iron is hot BBC. Just rely on the fandom waiting with bated breath. For S3 they finished filming in August 2008 and we didn't see it until July 2009 (nearly a year after they'd finished).
