Jack has a daughter. A grown-up daughter. Why are people making such a fuss over this? Doesn't it really stand to reason that the guy would have procreated at some point in his exceedingly long existence?

Now, guys, I love Ianto, you all know I do, but why does every reaction I've read to this news involve people going "OMG What's Ianto going to have to say about this ??! O_o!!?!1!" Why would Ianto even care that Jack stuck it up some fanny in the swinging sixties (judging from her age)? Why would Ianto knowing or not knowing have any bearing on their relationship? There's a lot Ianto doesn't know about Jack, he doesn't really seem to have a problem with that, surely? And anyway, why is everyone assuming Jack has a daughter that he knew about?

I know what Ianto's going to have to say about this, and it's not "Oh my God you didn't tell me you had a daughter you bastard you don't really love me and want to have my babies I'm leaving you and I'm taking the puppy!!cri!!?11!", rather it's along the same levels of emotional intensity as everything else Ianto has had to say about The Things He Didn't Know About Jack. He's going to say "Oh... Coffee?"

ETA: I'm fucking sick of all the fangirls imposing this weird-arsed hetero, monogamous, full-disclosure, true-love view on this relationship, especially from Ianto's point of view, like it's been stated at some fucking meeting that I didn't attend that Ianto's looking for Jack to provide him with love and marriage and gay puppies in a picket-fenced garden. It hasn't, and for the record, the absolute KING of non-disclosure, secrecy and emotional reserve is IANTO himself. Watch it again. (Yes, I still stand by what I said, and that's that I think Ianto's in love with Jack, or it's certainly been played that way, but SO WHAT? It's beside the point when it comes to what these two want from this relationship.)

ETA AGAIN: So, bearing in mind that Jack is Russell's Doctor-lite in Torchwood, with the emo and the ManPain, this is what will happen: Jack will TELL US (maybe we'll be lucky and he'll tell Ianto in a rare fit of Talking To Ianto About Emotional Things) about his emo and not having a family because it's OMGtoopainful to watch those you love die. Cue daughter he never knew he had and overacted emo. Daughter eventually dies in order to HAMMER HOME the point of the ImmortalManPain for those of us too dim to have got it the first time around. Cue more of Jack's overacted emo after which perhaps he stares into space on a rooftop for a bit. No, having thought about it, then he stares in silence at a picture of her as a baby and her mother. Then he puts the picture away in his locked box of pictures manpain pictures, which is a METAPHOR for his "locked" "box" of "manpain" "pictures" "manpain". GET IT???? YES???? Fin.

Duh, I couldn´t agree with you more.
Why oh why is everybody trying to search for all kinds of silly teeny girly women-magazine-relationship problems - like "if he ever EVER slept with anybody else, even when it was fifty years ago, he doesn´t really luv me and I´m not the special one I thought I was - buhuuu". x_x
Oh yes - that´s so Ianto to me.

Has anybody ever considered that their canon relationship is one of those rare ones where both are actually ... you know the strange word? Ah! Happy? Content?
It seems to make their angsty dark and depressing life a little bit more bearable when they´re together and you know what? This is one of the reasons I ship them SO MUCH, so I dont get why people try to make them all miserable with each other, they´re clearly not, and try to make Ianto having all kinds of issues he doesn´t actually have.

What I don't get is why so many people seem to be reading so much fanfic and/or commentary they don't like... Why yes, there are quite a lot of young, overly emotional fangirls writing a Jack and Ianto I certainly don't recognise from the show, that's why I don't read it. But why get so bent out of shape by their mere existence? Did the interwebs suddenly get too small for all of us to fit?

The problem is of course that sometimes you don't know what sort of fic it's going to be until you read it. Eventually of course you get to recognize authors and writing styles and know damn well that if you click on a particular link you'll need a puke bucket. But a lot of it is trial and error.

I try to avoid fanfics and stuff I don´t like. That´s not my problem. ^^ I don´t bash anybodys secret kinks. Go ahead and feel free wo write Jack/Weevil-mpreg if it makes you happy.

Actually I think, I´ve been around too much in too many fandoms and it´s always the same things that annoy me. *sighs*
It´s things like Gwen!bashing or Jack!bastardization that make me so angry.
It´s like ... we´ve got a cute scene like the one in "Something borrowed" where Gwen asks Jack what he´s going to do while she´s away and he answers "You know, the usual ... Pizza, Ianto, saving the world ..." and I go all "Awwwwww - they´re sooo cute and domestic" and keep imagining them together in the hub eating pizza, saving the world and having kinky sex. And then I go online and the first thing I read is "Clearly Jack abuses Ianto and doesn´t really love him, because he compared him to pizza."
I mean ... seriously?

Or ... like it´s canon, that Ianto and Gwen get along fabulous and are like BFF´s or something - and then I go online and the first thing I see is an Anti-Gwen-video because someone hates her, "because the f*cking bitch tries to steal Jack". Yeah right.

It makes me sad, it makes me mad, it frustrates the hell out of me. There´s really nothing I can do beside trying to ignore it, but it gets harder and harder everytime.
