Now that we've all calmed down a bit, it's time for some science. I have put together a wee poll to find out what is going on in ALL YOUR PRETTY LITTLE HEADS. There have been many things we haven't been told about Jack and Ianto, most of us have filled in the blanks with out own personal fanon, and I'd like to know what, on the whole, that fanon comprises. On with the science...

To clear up what I ticked :)

I think Jack introduced Ianto to kink, and Ianto grabbed the idea and ran away with it in a way that still amazes Jack (but in a good way) :D

I voted that Jack moved elsewhere because the Hole now gives him claustrophobia, and he moved in with Ianto because 1) it happened to be available right away, 2) Ianto wasn't about to let him out of his sight after 2x13.

Re: the wife label (and wtf at two 51st century guys using it), I read Jack as a natural sub (he can play dom if he needs to, but it's not his natural inclination), and Ianto is definitely the one calling all the shots in their relationship, starting from as far as TKKS. If we're talking about topping/bottoming, I don't think they care as long as they're both getting off.

I'd have gone with you on this Jack=sub idea right up to Adrift, but the man who comes out of the greenhouse with his trousers open looked extremely toppy to me. And I agree, the Jack who's been through DW Last of the Time Lords and TW2 ep 13 is not going to sleep in a hole.

Re the toppy thing, I think Jack does come across as extremely toppy there, but only WHEN he eventually comes out and only really towards Gwen. I find it quite telling that Ianto, who isn't Gwen's boss, is the one running after her, and it kind of looks like in that hothouse, Ianto's the one in charge and taking the initiative. When Jack eventually follows Ianto's lead, he suddenly displays himself in a very sexually agressive manner, but it feels to me like that's very much a thing he's directing at Gwen.

Although I do agree that pre-interruptus he definitely seemed to be taking the lead and Jack was more passive, Ianto's run after Gwen, in my eyes, appears weaker than Jack's saunter out after him. He seems flustered and a little embarrassed to be caught, though he hides it well. I think, like halfspokenwords said, Gwen's appearance suddenly changed the dynamic to "work," which threw him, not to mention he's a very private person who's just been seen in a very personal and exposed situation.

I think he was running out 1) to possibly do a little intercession/damage control, 2) see what she wanted, and 3) tell her about the package. All of which is very much a way to reestablish his work persona and hopefully distract Gwen from what she's just seen. That's how that run read to me.

I figured that was the role he was playing for Gwen, not for Ianto. I don't think we can ignore that there was a third person present, and that the third person made it into a 'work' environment. And the professional dynamics of Jack/Ianto are naturally going to be different than the private.

They haven't tied him up spread-eagle TWICE in Who AND TW just by accident, you know.

I think I shocked people onna OG by turning some innocuous conversation about Ianto into one about Jack whining like a child during BDSM play to the extent that Ianto has to gag him EVERY TIME. Plus, I may have put the idea into people's heads that Ianto uses that clipboard on Jack's arse.
