Now that we've all calmed down a bit, it's time for some science. I have put together a wee poll to find out what is going on in ALL YOUR PRETTY LITTLE HEADS. There have been many things we haven't been told about Jack and Ianto, most of us have filled in the blanks with out own personal fanon, and I'd like to know what, on the whole, that fanon comprises. On with the science...

[Poll #1171935]

If you have any other questions you think need adressing, let me know and we'll do another one before we start analysing numbers, yeah?

I think he owns a house, probably his parents' house. I have no idea why I think that, but it sounds plausible to me.

As for B&B/motel. I don't think so, because Jack has a key to Ianto's place (which is mentioned in one of the books), and that, for me, rules out the B&B/motel idea.

I wrote a fic where he gets left his parents house after they both die in a car crash.

Yeah, I'm one happy bunny *lol*

I think one of them, probably his mother was at Providence Park ... mental illness of some sort.

Maybe series 3 will answer some of our questions :)

I don't think the little old lady would mind Jack having a key to her B&B... ;)

Yup, reservesleutel

As for joined up words. That's because my mind doesn't work the same way as other Dutch people's minds work when it comes to English. I think in English most of the time, and only use Dutch when I can't (immediately) find the right English word, or when I'm distracted, like I was with the spare key comment.
My English grammar, therefore, is a lot better than my Dutch grammar. Always has been.

People who know me don't have a problem with it (most of the time), but people who don't know me are often quite annoyed when I change into English mid-sentence. (specially the ones who don't really understand it ... I didn't know those still existed)

I'm Dutch, born, raised, and still living here :)
I'm just good with languages (and numbers, apparently).

While my English grammar may be better, my Dutch grammar is probably still above average. I just notice that the more I write in English, the more I have to think about my Dutch :)
Of course, and this goes for any language I write in, I write 99% on instinct, and my instinct is rather accurate.

Funnily enough the most problems I have with English, is keeping BE and AE apart. Some times words and expressions slip into my BE, that turn out to be AE.

I have that problem too as an American, now that I've started speaking with Brits more often. I have to be very careful around whom I say, for instance, "I'll just put my pants on."

(Okay, yes, I understand generally one would hope you're careful around anyone you would say that to, but in this instance I was wearing a rehearsal dress and had taken my jeans off underneath them, and was about to leave for a break and put my street clothes on again. And happened to say that next to the ONE English guy in the cast. Ay ay ay.)
