Srsly, I have no words, I am so full of hate about the way this relationship has gone downhill since the somewhat promising KKBB.
I really thought we were on the way to seeing a healthy, normal, two-sided gay relationship, and suddenly we get fed this weirdly desperately defensive Ianto 'dabbling' shit. What happened to the spine he grew? Or are they telling us that two grown men are incapable of having a relationship with any more depth than this no-strings-attached emotionally abusive sexual gymkhana?

Hi -- Found you from a link on the Torchwood LJ community. ITA. This is horrible. It's as if Ianto is so seduced by the avant garde sexual gymnastics and so emotionally invested in Jack that he's had his spine extracted. I can't believe this relationship (touted as so cutting edge) has devolved into this while Jack pines over real and long dead women. Perhaps this is why Ianto appears to be gaining so much weight -- he's eating out of secret unhappiness. The dance scene was tragic -- it couldn't have been staged to be the polar opposite of the one in CJH if they tried with both hands. Ick.

Seriously, the only way to redeem this is through some major turnaround on Jack's part in the final eps. Or Ianto needs to just walk away. Preferably sooner rather than later.

Way to suck all of the fun out of Janto, RTD. Sorry for the rant since you don't even know me from Eve but after reading umpteen positive comments about the Janto in this ep, I'm relieved to find someone who didn't think it was sunshine and puppies.

There's a long history of tracking actor's weight gain going back to William Shatner's "Captain Fatty" period in the last season of Star Trek. RSL (and GDL for that matter) haven't gotten that bad, but when the gains are noticable, you've got to say something.

It scares me how the some of the fandom thinks it's perfectly acceptable for Jack to love Gwen and Ianto at once, especially when we don't see any emotional investment on Jack's part at all. In fact, ever since KKBB, Ianto is the only one who's ever initiated anything.

And the fawning is absolutely cringeworthy. I love Ianto, but sometimes I think he's just a lapdog who's always waiting for his master to throw him a bone, and honestly, what a waste of a perfectly good character.

For a show that is supposed to buck off all the sexuality stereotypes on TV, Jack/Ianto is possibly the most painful token relationship ever, gay or straight.

This show does have a Gay Agenda, the agenda is to reinforce every negative stereotype about gay people that they can. It bugs me when people say TW is groundbreaking when they're just as homophobic in there portrayal of gay relationships as every other show out there.
