Again, the last ten minutes of that contained a waistcoat that drove me to complete distraction and now my knickers have gone funny. Barrowman really surpassed himself on the shiteness scale in that one. It wasn't otherwise a bad episode (indeed, including some very very good things, like IANTO OMG IANTO YES IANTO and that fight with Rhys and Gwen with all the swearing and spit AND IANTO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH) but he was just...bewilderingly awful. I appreciate that emoting at a dying CGI space whale people have been using to make pizza topping seems like a stretch. (Sentences you never expected to type, #903.) But you are an AC-TOR. Allegedly.

But then again, we are not really watching for the Barrowman.

And despite the badassedness, Ianto gets taken hostage AGAIN. What kind of crazy hard-on do the writers have for seeing a gun pressed to that boy's temple? EVERY EPISODE.

I think they're lulling us into a false sense of security when it comes to Ianto and guns pointed at Ianto's head. One of these days they'll pull the trigger and we'll all fall out of our seats. This would be after the Owen is the King of the Weevils episode, obviously.
