I just slammed my finger in the car door. Hard. There was blood and everything. I thought I took it very well, a few years ago, pain like that would have made me cry like a baby.

I hate it when your brain is faster than your limbs. My brain said to me "you don't want to close that door like that, because your finger's still in there, haven't you noticed?" My finger hadn't noticed. And then I watched in horror as I, somewhat consciously, slammed the door on my own finger. I hate when that happens, yet at the same time I find it kind of fascinating. I KNEW I was about to slam the car door on my finger and there was not a thing I could do about it. Gah, brains!

My husband said the same thing when he sliced open his thumb while doing the dishes.
