Torchwood, yo...

As I done said, I'm rewatching Torchwood. Didn't post anything about Day One last week, because, well, frankly, I'd just had a baby a few hours earlier. But I shall now.
Sooo....Day One, a.k.a. the one where Gwen is Totally Useless, part one. Ahhhh, Gwennie, Gwennie, Gwennie. Chisel-throwing Gwen Cooper. She's useless isn't she? You hired Gwen Cooper, Jack, to replace Suzie? The clever, welding, Suzie Costello, yes? WHY??? Ah yes, she's human and your conscience. Or something. This is the point in the series I started to hate Gwen. It's nice, upon rewatching, to realise it actually was this early on in the series that I started hating Gwen with a passion. I'm sure that wasn't meant to happen.
So anyway... random observation of the week: They haven't invented a filter strong enough yet to disguise the pale Welshness of Sara Lloyd Gregory's thighs. Jesus, Gareth, take the girl to Ibiza or somewhere for Christmas, would you, get some sun? NEXT!
Ghost machine a.k.a. the one where Ianto says "Sploe", a.a.k.a. the one where Gwen is Totally Useless, part two. Not quite content with releasing a sex mad alien into the world, Gwen tries to redeem herself this week by KILLING SOMEONE. God, she's useless. I mean, seriously, what is the point to the girl? Also the episode where we're all actually meant to start hating Gwen, I believe. Because Rhys cooks her dinner. And washes her whites. While she gets fondled a bit by Jack because she's quite obviously a heartless bitch. I don't know what we're supposed to be making of her by this point, but I can't imagine we're supposed to be empathising. Or maybe we are? Which is it, Rusty? ASPLAIN YERSELF.
Randomzz: Is Ianto constanly bringing everyone food and coffee a setup for the "I'm your fucking butler, what the fuck do you care?" thing in Cyberwoman? Or is it a Lupus-esque meme of some sort? I don't actually remember, but MY GOD he's servile in these first few episodes. [Homer Simpson]Mmmmm.... servile.[/Homer Simpson] Moving on... no, actually, I think that was it. Oh, no, it wasn't: GAYEST SCENE OF THE SERIES SO FAR: The firing range thing. I mean, really. Really. Really. Ghey. I cried, it was that gay.
Next week: Jack shows Ianto his Rly Big Gun. Gheyness! And Cyberbikinis!

Date: 2007-09-29 05:51 pm (UTC)I always thought Ianto was one of those things that arose out of the thing where they hired someone to be a background type and they turned out to be dead good and bumped them up (like Chief O'Brien on Star Trek), but I have no proof. And the fact that Cyberwoman is only episode four probably means it was all planned.

Date: 2007-09-30 09:00 am (UTC)I think it was all planned. I shall rewatch Cyberwomanz Friday and try to work out why I think that. But I think all that "Ianto was originally going to die in episode four" stuff is bullshit.
