Rise of teh Cybermans again

On second viewing, I disliked this episode even more than on the first.

Ten'n'Rose are just wrong on so many levels, it's really starting to make my brain hurt.

Considering Rose's reaction, I am now conviced that Ten wandered off for a good half hour whilst they were *ahem*infiltrating*ahem* the catering team, and done porn with Lucy. For plot reasons. And then came back with dem undercover outfits for Rose and himself, hoping Rose wouldn't notice he smelled of sex.

The plot bored me, esp the whole Pete/Rose thing which was like, so old. And Rose really needs to stop flirting with Pete, because it's making me ill. She needs to sort out her Daddy issues (see also Nine'n'Rose, and Ten'n'Rose, but mostly Nine'n'Rose) or die of falling rocks.

Mickey ruled though, and the whole "Did that hurt?" scene was absolutely excellent. As was the thing with the granny and the rug.

Being bored of the plot, I became all geeky and distracted and noticed that:

1) When Rose is watching the news film on her phone, the label above it says "introduction.jpg" or something like that. In Alternate Universes jpgs are like video, yes? No. Geeky thumbs down for .jpginess.
2) When the Doctor reads Rose's phone during the download sequence, he clearly states that the download is coming from "Cybus Industries" when the phone quite clearly says "Cybus Corporation". This is because the Doctor is wearing the magic specs of sexy knowledge, yes? No.
3) Mickey's got a hott bodd, but I couldn't help thinking during that entire scene that they shaved his head and made him be naked because it's easier to green screen someone with short hair and no clothes on, yes? Yes, because I am a geek that way, and I know the havoc hair can cause when doing photoshop masks and that. Hair sucks.
I find your lack of plot disturbing and it makes me notice geeky crap. Which makes me sad.

I was all tired of talking about tGitF, but I am more than ready to resume that discussion with anyone who's willing, as I have noting more to say on this episode, apart from speculating that if the Doctor had found that green glowy bit and then KISSED IT WITH TONGUES this would have:
1) Charged it up right good and proper, instantly.
2) Cost him 50 years of his life, but what the hell, we're retconning the regenerations issue anyway sometime soon, I can feel it in my bones.
3) Got us out of there, like, immediately, thus avoiding the Pete and Rose squick and the whole embarrassing Lucy debacle.
4) But we would have missed the doggy bit. Which was the best bit.

I think the whole Rose-&-Pete thing was set up purely so that the scriptwriter could state, once and for all, that in this universe at least, Rose is a total bitch. ;)

And the Doctor should totally kiss the TARDIS power cell. Or at least give it a good lick.

Someone pointed out that he took the power cell with him, which they thought was a stupid thing to do 'cos it could get lost. But I thought it was a nice touch. Like he was afraid to stray too far away from it in case it died again.

*grins* I just realised, I made this icon before the new season, and it hasn't been Jossed like all the Doctor/Rose kiss icons! HA!

Yeah, I noticed that too, it was kind of sweet. Doctor/TARDIS OTP is always good.

Nah, Rose'n'Pete was put in to make me throw up in my mouth a bit. Squick. Ew.

If you think about it, it will be pretty easy to retcon the regenerations issue. As a dying timelord at the end of his last regeneration was put into the equipment at the Capitol and his brain scanned and the pattern added to the Matrix just before death, that could be explained as triggering something or being the final step in a process that didnt allow the timelord to regenerate again. As there is no matrix, no Engin and no equipment any longer, then there is no actual reason for a timelord to stop regenerating at 12... probably the "12 regenerations" thing was an actual policy in place to limit things, and not an actual biological limitation of the process itself.

Yes, I am getting the distinct impression that this is where they're going, with 12 being some Time Lord rule, and not any kind of biological limit. This is what's being hinted at elswhere on teh internets, anyway.
