Do I really want to listen to this? I mean, I hear Gareth and John are verra good in it (this makes a change for John, of course), but do I really want to sit through 45 minutes of what is essentially a post-CoE fixit fic? It's already taken me two years to lighten up and get over the cynical manipulative BS that came both before and after Children of Earth, do I really need all this bullshit again? I can't work out if it would make me happy or SO GODDAMNED PISSED OFF to hear that Jack did love Ianto and, no, Ianto wasn't a liar, and yes, Ianto's a big goddamned hero and yes, all that stuff you whiny bitches complained about, we've fixed or for you so will you LET IT THE FUCK LIE NOW AND WATCH THE NEW SHOW, YEAH? 'KAY? DEAL? See? I'm already veering towards pissed off. I'd still like to hear it, though, just because, yeah, damn it, it fixes all of that stuff that pissed me off, and sure, I want all that stuff fixed more than anything. It's a dilemma, alright.

Well, you could listen to it with the attitude that TPTB realized they fecked up big time with the fans with CoE and actually have heard what the fans' complaints were.
I don't think anyone will change their minds and want to watch MD after this, if anything I think people will want classic TW back even more and I expect tons of fic to come out involving these plays.

Well, I always thought JB worked very well with GDL (unlike another actor he is often paired with), so of course they kill off his character! So, I did enjoy hearing them again in what is essentially their play (you know, to make up for NO EPISODE ever being about them). But anyway... Yes, this will probably piss you off--especially after when you've had time to think about it--but during, you might appreciate it. It'll probably conjure some extreme emotions. Have some liquor handy?

It was all very sweet and syrupy but it made me so very happy.......

Because the radio plays use the voices of the actors themselves, I consider them to be canon (unlike the books) and I think RTD wanted a way to tell fans that Jack DID love Ianto very much, without annoying those fans who want Jack to be the big man-slut that he was originally meant to be - not even Gwen will get an "I love you" from Jack in canon, well, probably not. Of course Jack really loves Gwen but maybe for just one moment, Jack only wanted to be with Ianto.

Maybe? The guy was willing to screw over the Earth twice to be with Ianto and out of all of his dead loves, only wanted to see Ianto again. (That bar could have been very full just due to Jack alone!) So, yeah, he loves Gwen and WILL probably say as much at some point in the on-going series, but it will be in a different way. Two different but special loves. Neither of which will get in the way of Jack being a big man-slut. ;)
