Even the graphics are... ummm. Shit?

I can't make any observations about the design of the new Torchwood: Let's Do The Subtitle In Blueish, Don't Worry About Kerning It promotional material without being accused of being a killjoy Ianbot or whatever, but still. What's the bomb got to do with it, exactly? That's the fugliest, most disjointed and cliparty piece of design I've seen in a while. But, you know, I'm sure the series itself will be a masterpiece and that.

Umm... I like the starz logo? I'm a sucker for anything that plays with negative space.

YO, BE HAPPY, PEOPLE, I NEVER DID WRITE THAT THREE PAGE DIATRIBE ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT'S WRONG WITH THE MOFFAT WHO CREDITS AND THE FONT SPECIFICALLY.

i kinda like the big earthbomb - i want one ;)

though a ticking time bomb probably would have made more sense with their theme...

I knew you'd love it when you saw it. A graphic and some questionable font selections. Very...uninspired.

I think I'm going to follow Teh Mastapiez through your posts. There's no way I'm going to watch it but you covering the train wreck? I'm so reading it here, if you don't mind, and so sharing the lulz! ;P

All else aside (and there's a lot of "all else"), why the fuck did they copy and paste the top line out of MS Word or whatever the hell instead of making it in Illustrator or other vector package? It looks like my dog did it, and he's pretty good at graphics, considering.

Totally with you on the Starz logo!

Oh.

If that's not some kind of joke then that's just plain embarrassing. For them.

My brain went straight to the road runner and the coyote for the Lulz.

It gave me one of the few laughs I've had about S4!
It's gotta be a joke right, because otherwise that may be the worst promotional poster ever?

Cuz the population is gonna explode! Get it? Meh...
It looks like it was designed for a cartoon.
Plus it's now an ORIGINAL Starz series lmao

I did a double-take at the 'ORIGINAL' too ... then I got to thinking, that it may be very intentional to have it there and in great big letters because, if this new series bombs completely (no pun intended) then the BBC will be able to disassociate themselves from it without too much trouble; I noted that there's no mention of the BBC on it either - do THEY have doubts about it already?

That sounds quite feasible. After all, the BBC couldn't come up with funding for the fourth season of TW but have immediately renewed shows like Being Human.
Also, since RTD said that viewers don't have to know about past seasons to watch MD, maybe they really are trying to pass it off as completely new.

Also no UK air date. The BBC could back away if they feel they need to!

Yes, I agreed with your comment when I read it earlier too.

I wonder if the BBC will hold off for as long as humanly possible to give an air date there, and will definitely try NOT to mention which channel it will be on - I will guess they will hint at an end-of-July date, just hint, nothing in writing, to give them, what, 3 episodes to see how it's rating.

I really DO think the ratings for the first episode will be high, but if they drop off sharply in the next 2 episodes, I agree with you that the BBC will distance themselves from affiliation with it and show it with little advertising on one of its lesser channels.

Yes I think that's what they will do. They usually only announce stuff a couple of weeks before anyhow. I would have thought there wouldn't be a delay and the date would be the same, given that it's a co production. So it does seem odd but it could mean nothing and just be scheduling, or it could be them not committing.

I can't get my head around BBC1 showing a US production, filmed in LA, with American stars. Usually American stuff is only ever shown on BBC2. I don't know how much of an issue it is, but it would be the first time ever, so they can't do it lightly. They do show British stuff filmed in Europe, but normally it's a British cast, or like that Zen show, a British lead and then a mixed cast.

I also don't see why they couldn't have made it themselves in Wales, they've made plenty of other drama, including new things. I had assumed it was money but clearly not. I presume it was RTD.

Oh my God! I clicked thinking it might be OK ish, but it's really awful, beyond awful! Bloody Hell.

Also from that article, sub text but. The BBC may well decide not to show this, lets see how it goes. It will be buried on BBC2 late at night or something.

No, no, no! They're *brilliant*!

...Um...Isn't that the word we're supposed to use for everything a certain person is involved with? Sooo...Yes, Starz logo. Intriguing. Other stuff? Pls pass teh buket. Yuck. And ick, too.

Hey, maybe someone else thinks the show is going to bomb as well and is trying to stubbly [sic] get the message across without Mr. Brilliant realizing what they're doing? Y/Y? (See? Even the pre-school children who designed the...whatever it is think it'll be a dreadful piece of...show.)

Is this some sort of 'graphic' foreshadowing? Da Bomb or A Bomb - or maybe far enough out of fashion and class to be both? Only STARZ will tell!

It's less Torchwood and more Tom and Jerry!!

The topic of Miracle Day does sound interesting though, so I should get at least some bittersweet enjoyment out of it, even if I feel sad from time to time about Ianto, Owen and Tosh not being there.

Well, wasn't that a good use of a Christmas tree ornament and some tempra paints? You know, I bet I could be a graphic designer, too.

Can I be any later on this? lol

I like the graphic, but agree on the fonts. I'm totally abusing your expertise one of these days when I have to design a logo for a web series.

Supposedly another month and a half or so of filming left. It will be interesting to see how the final product looks. They have been using high end facilities in the US.
