But frankly, I can't be fucked anymore, I'm too tired of the whole thing. It's making me cry.
Anyways, I was going to respond to this:
So why tears in Doomsday? Well for a start, the relationship between the couple has developed tremedously. Having to adapt to a new regeneration would take time and I think in Doomsday, the Doctor finally realises how similar Rose has become to himself. Her sacrafice saved him, the human-race, the planet and quite possibly the Universe. Quite frankly, he realises she's his soul-mate. It's as though he finally admits it to himself. Unfortunately, he's too late to admit it to her...
But then Nos' already kind of did, and I would have just responded by flippantly throwing up in my mouth a little anyway. So I've decided to leave it. I have closed my browser window as a gesture of defiance. Or something.

Date: 2006-07-28 01:21 pm (UTC)Yes, I caught that too, it was the best moment in the episode as far as I'm concerned. How that equates to him realising she's his soulmate is, however, beyond me. Entirely.
Anyway, reading all the Rose love onna OG has made me come to the conlusion that the reason Rose went to fix the lever wasn't to save the universe, but, as per usual, because she thought she could get some Time Lord Cock out of it. You see, I don't want to hate her. But they're making me.

Date: 2006-07-28 01:39 pm (UTC)The OG have never been that good at reading the emotional stuffs. Remember when they argued about how the Doctor could not possibly have loved Reinette because he didn't have any BURNING HOT TENSION going on there?

Date: 2006-07-28 02:11 pm (UTC)OMG yes. I don't actually quite understand why I even bother to argue on there, because 95% of the OG seems to be completely blind to any emotional themes or development or message or anything. It's like how most of them just saw both L&M and FH and went: shitty monster, crap. When they were like the two most telling episodes since SR and Gitface, as far as Emotional Anvils were concerned. It's like they diodn't even notice, AT ALL.

Date: 2006-07-28 03:12 pm (UTC)And for a while in S2, the Doctor was ok with being a bit selfish over Rose, but he tried to keep a balance, taking her home sometimes, bringing Mickey along, smacking her down in SR and Gitf'ace. Reminding her that there was more to life than him and the TARDIS. But it didn't work and I think it finally hit him when he decided to do the unselfish thing and send her to safety in Pete's World. The look on his face when he puts the chain around Rose's neck just tears me up...it's the last thing he can do for her, it's as profound an act of love as any kiss or BAFTA cry scene...
...and Rose rejects it, coming straight back. And then we get the horror as he realises that she wants the selfish love, even if it kills her, even if it destroys her family, destroys him. It's a 'what the hell have I done' moment...
