WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
*sniff*
My face never recovers very quickly from long bouts of crying and I have a wedding to go to tomorrow. Dammit.
If Simm had been in it, I'd have stabbed myself in the leg. IT'S ABOUT GENE FUCKING HUNT, YOU FOOLS.
Anyway.
There's something in my eye.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OH GOD THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL. GEEEEEEENE.

Date: 2010-05-21 09:10 pm (UTC)but I still wanted him to be anyway ): (But then, I didn't enjoy this series at all. First series, a little. Second series, yes. This one? Blegh. Can't quite put my finger on why though.)

(Was is because Keats was in a comedy series last year about his ex-girlfriend marrying Duncan from Blue?)

Date: 2010-05-21 09:16 pm (UTC)(H-He was? I don't know. I didn't like that character at allll and I don't like Ray and I didn't much like Shaz and I think Alex is an idiot and okay I like Gene and Chris but I think the characters that annoyed me really outweighed the ones I liked in this series. MAYBE. Also maybe because I don't like police dramas WHOOPS.)
BUT HAVING SAID ALL THAT I think actually what they did with the ending worked. It worked kind of nicely.

Date: 2010-05-21 10:29 pm (UTC)The writers, perhaps? They dropped hints all series long and made him an integral part of the resolution, which is one heck of a lot of planting if you're not going to have any payoff. And he WAS originally supposed to walk out of The Railway Arms instead of Nelson, but then they decided that would steal Keeley Hawes's thunder.
Myself, I care not a fig for theft of thunder; I wanted to see Sam again. But otherwise? Completely loved it. Glenister is an acting GOD. And Keats has been drinking the crazy Kool-Aid, ohyesindeedy.

Date: 2010-05-25 06:32 am (UTC)(Btw, I totally sympathize with why the writers didn't want to bank their big ending on the whim of one actor, but if that was the case, then they shouldn't have made his character such an important part of Alex's resolution. It feels like they outlined everything with the first draft 'Sam comes out of the Arms' ending, but then, when they changed it, they forgot to go back and take out all the huge planting and buildup that would have led to his reveal.)

Glenister was amazing, and the revelation about Gene's age. Just wow. Perfect.
I really liked this season. It made me appreciate Ray, and I couldn't stand Ray.
The revelation about Shaz being from the 90s really threw me. I did not see that coming, but it made so much sense!
The only nitpick I have, and I didn't even realize I'd have it till the finale, was that I kinda wanted Alex and Gene to have at least one night together. I'm not a shipper. I just think it would have been nice. Once I found out the truth about Gene, I really wanted it. For him. He deserved to get the girl, if even for a night.
