WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
*sniff*

My face never recovers very quickly from long bouts of crying and I have a wedding to go to tomorrow. Dammit.

If Simm had been in it, I'd have stabbed myself in the leg. IT'S ABOUT GENE FUCKING HUNT, YOU FOOLS.

Anyway.

There's something in my eye.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

OH GOD THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL. GEEEEEEENE.

It made total sense that Simm wasn't (and shouldn't have been) in it

but I still wanted him to be anyway ): (But then, I didn't enjoy this series at all. First series, a little. Second series, yes. This one? Blegh. Can't quite put my finger on why though.)

Oh, I didn't think he WOULD be. You're right, there was no reason to believe that. I just wanted ;__;

(H-He was? I don't know. I didn't like that character at allll and I don't like Ray and I didn't much like Shaz and I think Alex is an idiot and okay I like Gene and Chris but I think the characters that annoyed me really outweighed the ones I liked in this series. MAYBE. Also maybe because I don't like police dramas WHOOPS.)

BUT HAVING SAID ALL THAT I think actually what they did with the ending worked. It worked kind of nicely.

I never for a moment thought Simm would be in it, and I don't quite understand where people got that impression.

The writers, perhaps? They dropped hints all series long and made him an integral part of the resolution, which is one heck of a lot of planting if you're not going to have any payoff. And he WAS originally supposed to walk out of The Railway Arms instead of Nelson, but then they decided that would steal Keeley Hawes's thunder.

Myself, I care not a fig for theft of thunder; I wanted to see Sam again. But otherwise? Completely loved it. Glenister is an acting GOD. And Keats has been drinking the crazy Kool-Aid, ohyesindeedy.

Sam coming out of the Railway Arms would have made a lot more sense than Nelson. Sure, we know who Nelson is, and so do Ray and Chris...but Alex doesn't know Nelson from Adam. If it's her story, and she's the focus, wouldn't it make more sense for someone significant to her to lead her through the Gates? She just spent the entire series following Sam's tracks; seeing him would have been the visible closure to her quest.

(Btw, I totally sympathize with why the writers didn't want to bank their big ending on the whim of one actor, but if that was the case, then they shouldn't have made his character such an important part of Alex's resolution. It feels like they outlined everything with the first draft 'Sam comes out of the Arms' ending, but then, when they changed it, they forgot to go back and take out all the huge planting and buildup that would have led to his reveal.)

For once, I am totally happy with how they ended a show I liked... it's a new experience for me...

Hmm...I'm hoping I'll have the same experience with Lost tonight...but I'm not holding my breath. Been burned too many times before. ;)

Agreed. So, so much. I was really happy with this. I just hope my LOST loving friends got their ending too.

I loved it, glad they didn't go all futuristic sci-fi, it was perfect as it was. And yes, it was all about Gene Hunt.

But I'm running out of TV shows to watch now - where have all the good shows gone?

This. So much.

Glenister was amazing, and the revelation about Gene's age. Just wow. Perfect.

I really liked this season. It made me appreciate Ray, and I couldn't stand Ray.

The revelation about Shaz being from the 90s really threw me. I did not see that coming, but it made so much sense!

The only nitpick I have, and I didn't even realize I'd have it till the finale, was that I kinda wanted Alex and Gene to have at least one night together. I'm not a shipper. I just think it would have been nice. Once I found out the truth about Gene, I really wanted it. For him. He deserved to get the girl, if even for a night.
