In Russell's world, bumsex with Russell Tovey pretty much fixes all your emo manpain, no matter how vast, yeah?
That's pretty faily right there. Not as faily as that thing with Martha and you know who, but still pretty fucking offensively faily. As was that thing with Donna. Wow, that's a lot of fucking fail to heap upon an awful lot of companions.
DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOUR ASS RUSSELL.
Also, did Simm just disappear, never to be mentioned again, or did it just seem that way?

Date: 2010-01-03 03:27 am (UTC)Realizing that the Martha/Mickey pairing would have worked if they had been in CoE, I'm giving RTD a pass on that one so long as it was already filmed by the time they didn't renew. If RTD knew and didn't bother to rewrite 30 seconds of script, then again its lazy and a slap to the audience.
The list of what I didn't like is much longer.
Whole Time Lord Thing. I go back to the Tom Baker days and this still didn't make a whole lot of sense.
Star Wars rip offs. Unless it was supposed to be a tribute to Lucas (which I doubt cause RTD will tell you that nobody is as great as RTD) the space ships, the Wilf with the MF guns shooting as the missiles from earth, even the set up of the battle is vintage SW. Ditto on the Time Lord chamber and costumes. And the bar scene - even some of the same aliens (as well as reed instrument based music). WTF - total lack of imagination.
So much angst about dying. Hero-pain way over the top. What other Doctor met his regeneration with so little dignity?
And he saves the SJ's son, and Mickey and Martha, and I guess Donna (cause her head exploded but she lived) and Jack gets laid. That's right, as compensation for having Ianto and Steven die and losing any ties to his daughter, to the point where he cannot even stay on planet earth and be of support to his friend Gwen, he gets a piece of ass. Meh.
And just like TW - let's blow up the sets so no one can use my stuff.
I'm actually looking forward to the new season.

Date: 2010-01-03 04:10 am (UTC)I have to admit they do have chemistry, but it still felt kind of lazy like they were the only two left of the Doctor's crew so why not put them together so we don't have to both with separate goodbyes.

Date: 2010-01-04 04:59 pm (UTC)And since EoT was filmed well after CoE, RTD knew that Martha with Mickey was going to come out of nowhere, given that she'd only met him in Journey's End, especially given what we found out about Martha in TW series 2 and CoE. So yeah, lazy writing as a way to wedge in one more character from his own time in Who.
