I liked Wilf?

That was essentially 60 mins of buildup to a really bad pun about the Master race, Inorite? And women are all batshit when there's pretty, charismatic, powerful, evil mens to be resurrecting. Kind of like a coven. Crazy wimmins, they're all the same.

The Confidential is now telling me how wonderful Trinity Wells is. I think that's to distract me from the Evil Black People what were in the episode.

I didn't like it much, can you tell? It made no sense. At all. And I still don't understand why the Master can fly.

If this is spoilers then, yeah, sorry dudes.

I liked Wilf too. The rest... not so much. I'm not really sure why I bother but I'll be here for part 2...

Maybe I'm tired but none of it made any sense at all? And also it was dreadful.

WHY DID THE MASTER HAVE LIGHTNING SKILLZ?

HOW WAS ANYTHING ABOUT THE MASTER MEANT TO MAKE SENSE?

Why were we introduced to 3789378923 characters only to render them pointless within about five minutes?

Did Timothy Dalton really have to spit everywhere and will he be doing that next week too?

What the hell?

(All of the above are rhetorical.)

I was falling asleep at some point while watching it. When did Doctor Who turn into Matrix Reloaded? And why did there have to be so many scenes of the Master laughing his 'Muahaha!' laugh?

The Time Lords in the ending scene looked like they had fallen out of Star Wars. Could the headdresses have been any more ridiculous?!

Wilf is love. The rest was a bit slow... and I still think Russel will fuck it up by stuffing everything into part two

so many good actors were woefully underused (Alexandra Moen, June Whitfield, Claire Bloom). Perhaps there'll be more meat to go with these potatoes in episode 2.

despite everyone else being fictional, they mention Obama - fail for not keeping everything fictional.

So we're left with Donna, Wilf & the Doctor the only ones on earth that aren't the Master. So Gwen Cooper, Sarah-Jane Smith, Luke Smith, are all Masterised. Oh dear.

The Timelords look like someone's dad who's going to step in and go "Now boys, play nice!".

Comedy old people, evil black people, man!pain in the cafe, timelords appearing out of the woodwork... clutching at predictable straws Mr Davies, pedestrian and confusing.

And I was a bit bitter when Mr Naismith explained where he got the McGuffin from. "After the fall of Torchwood, I aquired it" and I thought "Which one? London or Cardiff?"

And where was unexpectedly Naked!Jack?

at least the Ood were in character, and made some kind of mystical sense.

Yay for DW related TL;DR!

Pausing with 10 minutes to spare to weigh in so far...no, I'll type this now, finish watching, then hit "send."

The opening was shit. RTD still doesn't get scope, but I do love the idea of the ood/ Donna connection. That was good. That also sets up Wilf. For once, Rusty actually justified something. It's a start. I really liked the Noble clan all around this time. Actual good comedic timing. Who knew?

The BS resurrection of The Master was made up for by Simm, IMHO. I'm now convinced he could sell me beachfront property in Nepal, cause he's selling it like no one else. I mean that literally, of course.

The Obama stuff was such horrible BS. The one thing Obama never promised was an easy solution, so it looks ridiculous. Especially since US=/=UK, and we all sit home on Christmas, including the President. No one would be happy about a Christmas address. Especially all those non-Christians who voted for him. Bad, bad political move in a secular country like ours. Rusty is an idiot. And he knows he has an international audience, and I can't believe at least a few Brits wouldn't get that, so no excuses that it's a British show.

Okay...remember what I said about Rusty not understanding scope? Seriously, why would the Master want a bunch of humans? He's never respected them or cared. Wouldn't he just want Gallifrey back? One he could control? Makes a much better story, and a lot more plausible. Especially after the childhood reminiscence. All that to mess with the Doctor? His insanity didn't justify it, IMO.

All that good set-up, and then drops the ball completely with Donna's memory. That never happened in front of Donna before, so why would she be triggered by it? Wouldn't it just make her remember that first adventure with The Doctor that she still has? Too much too soon.

Yet again, some things right, but way too much horribly wrong. And it was showing potential too. *sigh*

Also, John Simm should have gotten first billing after all that character work he had to do in those costumes and CG. That must've taken a week, at least!

I love Timothy Dalton, and Yay for Gallifrey's return (I thought might Moffat would want it back, if nothing else), but why exactly do the peaceful Gallifreans care about victory and ending time? I'm so sick of RTD taking on things to big for him to understand. Unless he suddenly brought back the Daleks they were fighting off, and I missed it, Gallifreans are a lot bigger than "victories." I have to say, I do want to know what he means by "end of time." Probably won't be as interesting as it could have been, but I do want to know.

And wasn't there a little too much Star Wars prequel Senate to that chamber? Way to rip off an idea there. Any guesses on the ones with hands over their faces? I'm saying Matt Smith is one. Who's the other?

Wilf is amazing. I still can't stand Ten and would really like for him to go DIAF. Along with Rusty. I'm intrigued by the return of the Timelords. It didn't make logical sense. It started strong, went batshit, went stupid, went all John Simm all the time, then finally the very ending gave me a reason to watch part two. I'd like to know why the Timelords came back, otherwise, whatever, I'm so over RTD, can has Moffat now, pls.

But mostly what I took away from this episode is an intense desire to discover why the master can fly. And why he has bleach blond hair. And why Rusty hates black people all the time.

You can say that again. The billionaire's daughter thing is creepy, and she has no purpose. The billionaire, sure, but he's a red shirt.

The lightening skills/ jumping thing bugged me at first, but like I said below, Simm sold it. Okay, his resurrection was dodgy...but what would cause that, and why wasn't the Doctor surprised by it? If you're going to exposit, why couldn't it be more on that instead of pointless BS? I don't care about horny older women when there's a story to tell.

Yeah, I actually liked the Ood bit. It was dodgy, but I liked the set-up. The connection with Donna was a good gateway into the story, and future beings sensing a change in the past is actually good time travel story telling. Still, too much exposition that made almost no sense, and the circle of Ood felt a bit much. Plus, The Doctor showing up in a lei and sunglasses was insulting. I'm sick of asshole!Doctor. I want my badass hero!Doctor back.

Who directed this? It was pretty terrible. Good CGI, shitty direction.
