I'd love to convert these to knitting grids, which are like cross-stitch only the boxes are wider than they are tall (generally around 1.4 wide to 1 tall), but I do not have Photoshop. So it'd have to be by hand.
There's a little something called duplicate stitch, that's essentially cross-stitch on knitted fabric. I don't know if I'd dare all these patterns with intarsia or stranded colorwork, although it doesn't look like you've used all that many colors, maybe 5 or 6? That'd be doable, although a little fiddly.
You could easily forego the two blue accent colours and replace them with the main blue or black where appropriate. I think if I were doing a knitting pattern, I'd outline the whole thing in black like a drawing. But I reckon I could do a pattern in just black, blue and white.
Are you on Ravelry? I swear I saw a TARDIS blanket there once, where the panels were done in different stitches rather than color changes. *pulls out own Gromit icon*
And it's only three shades of blue, a light grey, black and white, so it won't break the bank if you're not the type who has 500 shades of DMC in the house. Go for it! (In spite of my protestations to the contrary, I'm actually quite taken with this TARDIS and might embroider it next week to see what it looks like.)

Also I am stuck on a runway.
