My guess? I think the production values on this film are SO LOW that nobody involved actually cares or even notices that you've got a highly visible packet of Marlboro in your pocket during filming.

It's just occurred to me that this could be an actual still and not a between-takes photo. In which Holmes and Watson take a brief refreshing country walk and share a filter-tipped fag. I wouldn't actually put it past this film to have Watson smoking filter-tipped fags. But dudes, that guy from Enterprise is in it! Somewhere.

(Snakes on a Train was on Zone Horror or somewhere like that the other day and I missed it. So gutted.)

Looking at this picture, I have to just acknowledge to myself that GDL is destined to be a fat guy. He can fight it, but once he gets married, even the thinner phases will disappear. He's gonna be a fat guy and a fat character actor who never gets the lead role.

Oh, Enterprise. That show sucked.

Since the suit IS too big, they could have stolen this space suit (from the link you gave) from Enterprise that seem to be made of burnished copper and dressed Holmes in that. It would totally be period-appropriate.

The costuming on this just bites - NOT a single costume fits any of the actors in any of those stills. And Steampunk/bronze cybermen? oooookay, then.

At least GDL's hair looks lovely.

I think I can see a cigarette in Gareth's hand, so it could well be a photo that was taken in-between shoots. There's another photo from this film somewhere, where a guy with red headphones on is hanging around in the background, as if he's one of the film crew. I'm pretty sure they didn't have headphones back in Victorian times.

The guy playing Holmes looks a bit thin in that pic and apparently he's "local" which explains why nobody knows who he is.

I don't think Gareth's fat at all, he's just lost the youthful puppiness that he had in series 1 of Torchwood because he's *gasp* approaching 30. John Barrowman has never been thin whilst playing Captain Jack but you wouldn't excuse him of being fat either.

Actually there are certain shots in Cyberwoman that make Gareth look bigger in the face than in other shots. I'm thinking of the one where he turns to that pervy Doctor and says "I did all I could, really I did" just before opening the basement door.

True, Gareth will probably never be as adorable as he was in season one. While he's not fat-fat, I have seen him with his shirt off, and he's approaching an A-cup. If I met him in person, I'd try to bag him in a minute, but to my eye, the man is out of shape. Barrowman isn't *thin* but he looks like he works out.

And everyone has their own taste, chica.;-)

I was just wondering whether the package in Gareth's trousers (not THAT package) is Gareth's fags or something to do with Watson, whether Watson smokes or it's just Gareth having a crafty one in-between takes.

I don't know about Watson but apparently Holmes smokes a pipe rather than cigs.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Watson smoke in other Holmes adaptations. I think Holmes has been seen smoking cigarettes in them as well as a pipe.

Watson does have a gun (though probably not a BMF gun). Maybe it is a gun in his pocket.

Will Holmes be getting high in this do you think?

Gareth's smoking a filter tip, they weren't invented until the fifties. Hence the angst. And cigs did not come in hard packets. I doubt they would have even come pre-rolled at all by then.
