Watch out for the mullet, GDL, you need to keep that sort of thing in check.

Obviously, I'm shipping Matheson/Lyndon already. Hard. Mainly because there's no way I could ship Joe Absolom with anyone in the world.

Is she a ball-breaker, yes? Can I pretend it's Ianto/Yvonne? Is that allowed? Will there be sexytiems? Is there a sink involved?

same here. I was reading a story set pre series in which the author alluded to a sexual relationship between Ianto and Yvonne. I loved it, but sadly the series was never finished :(

I wish more people would try and write this pairing just for me ;)

At least it's not quite to the point where I feel compelled to make a joke about symbiotes?

The hair, I mean. Not Ianto/Yvonne.

In other news, that looks like a seriously cool internet series.

Awww but it will so nice to see his likle buttony-nosed fayce playing a copper - mullet or not.

Glad to see he's got some work other than being Prince Charming.

Read in someone's coverage of DragonCon that he's love to play an "Evil Fucker" and when someone suggested the Master, he thought about it and siad that John Sim had done too good a job.

Now that would be hot - a man who looks like Ianto Jones but is really the Master... and if Cap'n Jack turned up, we'd have buckets of man!pain and ANGST and mindfuckery...

sorry, a bit over-excited there...

I bet Gareth can't wait to shake off the Ianto image. :)

Still, we also have The Casimir Effect to come and maybe his role in that will be slightly MORE Iantoish, considering he's playing the love interest of the lead female.

Don't get too excited; it's another short (student) film that may take a while for the world at large to see. But it has District 9 delusions of grandeur, so here's hoping!
Still, love interest...ummm...

It's a local project (like A Great British Cover-Up) and it's going to be a 45 minute sci-fi film that hopes to follow in the footsteps of 'District 9' in becoming a full-length feature if enough interest is shown. Gareth is playing the lead male role.

I think he would be delighted if he could keep the image for a few more years in the actual role! Of course I agree that he won't want to be typecast but it really looks as if this project hasn't done so. I think it's good to do all these things, they can lead to something and also it's just quite nice to support local creativity and get involved which he really seems to do.

He looks very convincing as a detective. He leans across a desk intently as well as anyone in Law and Order! I'm gonna have to overcome my aversion to thrillers so I can watch it. Hmm.

I like these Ianto/Yvonne notions. They both wear suits SOOO well.

Well, I certainly had exactly those thoughts - why else would Yvonne have hired some youth with a shoplifting record and a less-than-stellar academic background? Because of the buttony nose and the cute ass in a suit, definitely.

This could only work for me if Ianto were Evil or if he didn't know when hired, but then finds out and sets out to thwart her. Otherwise, he'd have to be a little too woobie for my taste.

But a ruthless Ianto + ruthless Yvonne could be very interesting.

I watched the penultimate episode of the Series 2 of New Who (with Tennant and Piper) where they go to Torchwood 1 and I thought Yvonne was a terrific leader. She seemed to know exactly how to work her staff. I did not watch the finale so I don't know if other facets came out in the last episode; therefore I really don't understand why so many TW fic writers insist on making her incompetent and foiled by Captain Jack at every turn. Jack is just an accidental boss whereas Yvonne is clever, observant and ruthless. No marks for guessing who would be the more competent leader.

Seriously? She was incredibly incompetent. She let the cybermen in and then got converted herself. She was a bit of an idiot really, and power hungry and full of hubris

Ignore me if you were joking with this post.

Anyhow I do like the look of this.

I totally agree with you that DW has those characters, but I think she is so power hungry she can't see that things are wrong. Also all this Empire thing, and anything alien is ours. I suppose it's that thing where fascists can be said to run well oiled machines, and I'm sure that is the DW analogy, even if they go about it in mad, even murderous ways.
