I said I'd heard other people saying it, and I was just repeating what I'd heard other people saying. Your honour. Okay, and I may have not said it WASN'T the case. But of course, I meant to, I was just putting the dinner on or something.

LOL, anyway, the reason I bring it up is because this rumour was mentioned on the anonmeme and I thought there was an interesting discussion there, because people did seem to be being really flippant about that sort of thing happening. Obviously, or at least in this instance, these sorts of crazy rumours are nothing to do with some sort of homophobic gay=sexual predator stereotype, but they derive solely from the fact that RTD mentions GDL in a quite lecherous manner several times in his book. And to make a reasonably serious point, if RTD was straight and had said the sort of things he said about GDL about some young unknown actress like Freema or somebody, or if God forbid Moffat were to publish in a book, for all to see, forever that doing rewrites for Karen Gillan was good fun because it meant he could meet with her in private and explain them and let's face it, he thinks she's hot and she gives him a hard-on, you wouldn't think it was quite so fucking funny. So, you know, I'm just throwing that out there. I've never really commented on the Writer's Tale thing because I don't want to constantly type on the internets about how I think Russell's a bit of a creep because it's beside the point and my opinion on the man matters not a jot to anyone, anywhere and it has nothing to do with his talents, or lack thereof, as a writer. But yes, I thought it was creepy at the time and I still think it's creepy now and it's the reason that speculation like this exists in the first place.

So yeah, there's that. But to put the record straight, RTD killed off Ianto because he can't write drama that doesn't involve people dying and he can't write romance that doesn't involve two people not being able to communicate openly with each other unless one of them is drawing their last breath. Those are the reasons.

While I've not heard any of this before, I thank you for clarifying everything. I'm ashamed to say I have Russell's book but have not read it. Yes, slap me. I do hear it's an interesting book with lots of insights to the story lines and such.

Sorry, I was catching up on Who spoilers, as I've not registered at gallfreybase, nor do I intend to. And I don't read digitalspy because most of the spoilers there are planted by my BF as a social experiment to see if they'll come back to me at some point.

Not at the moment, no, but I have to admit, I'm not paying a lot of attention atm to the conversations that carry on in this journal long after I've left to put the kids to bed, so I was kind of interested that there was a reference to a fracas here that I had only really skip read myself, I get a fuckload of comments and can't really keep up. So I was amused more than anything.

What fracas? A couple people saying "I bet this is what happened." A few responses of "Yeah, I could believe that." That's barely a tempest in a tea pot, not a fracas.

But as an act of contrition, I suggest we all chant five times - "Rusty is a genius..Rusty is a genius.." Maybe it'll come true - just like in Peter Pan.......

I really didn't understand the squee I saw on several places about RTD's comments on GDL in his book. They sounded like the piggy comments of an old letch and I wondered why people were finding it cute. Not to mention the impression they gave that RTD was developing Ianto's character only so that GDL would grant him his favours.
