I hated that in too many ways to into right now.
At least I think I did, though Tennant was HELLA HOT.
I might say something about it later, but right now I am just hating it.
Don't even bother asking me why, I don't think I can be coherent about it.

Grrrrr.

Oh god oh god I seriously can't believe that ANYONE would hate that. WAS IT JUST THE TEN/ROSE THING? Or more than that?

(Although I guess I know how the people who loved the Cyberman pile of shit episodes felt.)

But nooooo, they weren't saying Rose > Universe at all! Seriously and for true!

Last year Nine couldn't push the button - but Ten did, he broke the vases and had faith in Rose, that she could fend for herself. He had no way of knowing she'd survive, but he hoped so (which you can't blame him for, hoping she doesn't die!) I loved it, actually - a really screwy part of Nine/Rose was this utter inability to see past Rose, and in a way it also denied her a lot of free will and action. Here he said "Rose Tyler will figure something out, or understand why I had to do this." And then he did it. Hurrah!

Oh god, I said I wasn't going to write epics on other people's journals, and now I just did. Anyway. Sorry to go all Rose-defending on your journal...but it's more Ten defense, anyway...

*seconds everything that [livejournal.com profile] livii says here*

Nine was so paralysed by worrying about Rose that the decisions always had to be taken out of his hands. Ten acts, and then assumes evrything will be alright, assumes that Rose is alright. (Which could cause some serious emo if it turns out she isn't one of these days, but that's another point...)

It's really him being all the Universe > Rose, but having the optimism and faith in Rose to assume that she will have worked out a way to save herself.

::is pathetically grateful::

I usually try to be very zen about stuff but for some reason this is really getting me going tonight, because I think that this is actually something for the Doctor/Rose haters - the Doctor finally is able to do things despite Rose, just that he hopes it'll be okay 'cos, well, he has (normal) feelings and stuff, he never wishes anyone dead!

This could be like one of the most interesting developments of the season, actually.

I think the thing is that they pulled Rose > World so many times last year that it's the obvious assumption? Cos I'm having second thoughts on it and shall need a rewatch but... yeah. I think the whole thing's so heavy on their love that it becomes the obvious interpretation. He's just said he loves her (pretty much) and then he won't kill her and then he decides she's wonderful enough. So it's like the logical conclusion.

BTW

Think they're giving us a fake-out on foreshaowing her death so that a) we don't believe she'll leave cos we know she can't die and b) it'll be such a relief when she just goes home?
