And the thing is, bringing back the Daleks time and time again just makes the double genocide less and less meaningless, and it begins to verge on comedy. "Oh, right, you wiped out two races. Didn't do a very good job, didja?" Teetering alarmingly on the brink between pathos and farce.

At first it was horribly tragic. Now they're just an overused villain-of-the-week, rather than being an evil and terrifying nemesis. And they keep having feelings! The Daleks are emasculated, and the Doctor just looks incompetent and emo.

I'd like to say that, on the whole, I liked this episode, but I do think that you're right: the last five minutes of this episode and the trailer completely overshadowed the episode for me too.

Haha, I just saw the episode and the trailer and the only thing I really care about is that Jack is totally cuddling Ianto in that one scene where Jack is all "omg we're gonna die!" And now I board the failboat.
