Fanalysis, sure, I can do fanalysis.

OK, so I watched it again slightly more sober and working my brane and that.
It would have been an enjoyable episode were it not for the shouty.
First off, I will forgive teh weasel for temporarily forgetting the Scottish Doctors and SHOUTING rule for a number of reasons, being:
1) Teh pretty makes me forgive Tennant a lot anyways, shallowzorz but yes.
2) The Girl In The Fireplace makes me forgive him even more, because he can bring it, yes he can, and he has more than proved that so there.
3) Somebody, somewhere, decided that teh Doctor would become angry and shouty liek woah at the Rose face thing, and that somebody is to blame.

I am sensing teh Hand of Rusty in this one, like lots and lots. And I'm not really liking the hand of Rusty at the moment. Rusty, to me, is the one responsible for this whole ugly mess in the first place, because it is Rusty who should be providing the continuity of character through the series, regardless of scriptwriter. And for some reason Rusty seems to be letting the ball drop quite badly on this point. So in the last episode we have a Doctor who is quite happy to let Rose go off with Pete and possibly get herself killed, and yet in this one, we get that shouty moment of WTF? It's like every once in a while Rusty decides that we need a Shippy Moment to prove their speshul WUV, and he just blatantly inserts them into the script because he is Rusty and that's what he does. The problem is that, when those blatant in your face moments aren't happening, I'm not feeling this speshul WUV at all. Why is that?

Anyways, I thought this ep would have been vastly improved had the Doctor just come in and investigated and diffused the (inevitable) Alien Threat, because it's WHAT HE DOES because he cares about humans and their welfare, generally. I'd like to see that happening some time. Because, in my mind, that's what the Doctor has always done. he doesn't need this TRU WUV catalyst for Christ's sake! It bugs me. *insert Rusty Davies h8 here*

Forgetting the shouty love for a moment:
* The omnisexual alien arse and crotch (of Rassilon) were really noticeable and even more so on second viewing. WEIRD, that.
* I was kind of bugged by the Doctor's Agenda of Women's Liberation, because he of all people really should understand that Things Were Different Then.
* He deserves a good punch inna face every now and then. Rose should try to not jump his bones when he's unconscious because the mascara makes her look like enough of a slag already.
* I AM TIRED OF ROSE'S DADDY ISSUES. Please make her stop.
* Rose was kind of useful this episode, weird face and all, but her taunting of Eddie was OTT. They had already got him where they wanted him, and Rose's extra malicious "GET TO IT!" could have easily made him turn on them and tell them to fuck the fuck off out of his house. So she was lucky there. Stupid ape.
* I could have told you it was bakelite just by looking at it, duh. Plus: It's 19fucking53, man, what else would it be? Put the magick tongue to better use already. And more often. For plot purposes, naturally.

I didn't mind this one as much the second time around. But no more shouting please, it makes me do a cry.
