Seriously, Rusty and David, I really am trying. Please don't do this to me, because I srsly LOVE Ten. And I would like that to be for reasons other than just TEH PRETTY. And TEH PRETTY is pretty much all I have at the moment.
I am full of h8 right now.

You know you don't just love Ten for the pretty. Think of School Reunion! Think of Girl in the Fireplace! With their entire lack of shoutyface!Doctor! Weren't those good times? With the emo and the angst and deepness?

Some of the shouty here was, I think, bad acting choices on Tennant's behalf, but I think the big WTF moment was bad writing. I mean, what can you do with a line like that?! Eww.

I think the angry scene was a mixture of writing and (sadly) acting - Tennant's better at the cold fury sort of thing - but I didn't have any problems with the rest of it, really. Rose didn't annoy me at all, which was a bit of a surprise.

Yes, that was quite surprising, though it always grates on me when she suddenly knows stuff.
I love Tennant, I really do, but I think he's really being thrown to the wolves at the moment in terms of characterisation, which must suck. I stayed up until one o'clock in the morning yesterday defending Ten and that really pissed me off, mainly because this episode really didn't do him any favours. I don't want to have to defend my love of Ten all the fucking time, but the writing isn't helping there at all. And so I get accused of being distracted by pretty, and that fills me with h8. Grrrrrr.

At least this time we hand the Jackie dating a sailor handwaving, which beats the mysterious unexplained Koh-i-Noor knowledge. And my cousin married a sailor, and so I have picked up far too much useless naval information from family dinners, so it didn't seem nearly as out of place.

I can see why you are angry, but since I found only that one bit to be particularly bad, I find it easier to gloss over. Or something.

It's not that she knows stuff, it's that she knows stuff she has no reason to know. Fuck, I'd expect her to know topical trivia and maybe what days the Post Office is full of old people getting their pensions and the exact difference between a size 12 and a size 14 and stuff about hair-dressing.

Course, fitting that stuff into the plot could be tricky.
