RL and shit
Sep. 28th, 2006 09:24 amMy son can sing quite well. For a two-year-old it's positively outstanding. He does a pitch perfect rendition of the Balamory theme tune and the ABC song (in which, to my great sadness, he has replaced the letters of the alphabet with the word CAR just repeated ad infinitum, but you can't have everything). And the casual observer would hardly even notice that silly little three note OOOEEEOOOOOOOO he does under his breath all day long in a high-pitched girly voice. I should tape it one day, when he's in the mood. It's teh lullz.
I haven't really been posting much, as I don't have a lot to share with y'all. Next week sees the end of DW reruns on BBC3, which means Beckett will have a spazzy fit come bedtime, so I have got Seeds of Death and Tomb of the Cybermen for next week and after. I am hoping shorter episodes will lead to an earlier bedtime, but I'm not holding my breath. And also, he is a child of the noughties, and he has terrible issues with black and white. Though he did watch bits of The Mind Robber with me and seemed reasonably happy about it. He liked the horsie, and seemed quite keen on Two.
I had something terribly important to say on the nature of internet relationships and was going to post a big long ranty thing about it, and then I completely lost my train of thought. I shall try and work out what it was I was going to say.
Just so you know to skip it when it comes up.
And one day, I shall stop using the Chavvy Whore icon. But not today.

Date: 2006-09-28 08:11 am (UTC)The oooeeeoooooo thing is so damn cute, and has the added bonus of not being particularly noticeable to anyone who doesn't know what it is. As opposed to DOCTAHDOCTAH!!!, which always has his grandmother going "Should he really be watching that show so much? It's not healty." and the like.

Date: 2006-09-28 01:49 pm (UTC)How was I to know that exposing a child to New Who at his tender age would have these sorts of repercussions? I wasn't to know he would turn into a big Tennant kissing GAY, and run around poking a sonic screwdriver at the fucking cat, and shouting DOCTAHDOCTAH when he wakes up in the morning. And going oooeeeooooooooo quietly in a corner while I worry he may have some sort of autistic style fixation?
I never thought that sort of thing would happen.
On a more hopeful note, in the past week or two he has suddenly developed a bit of The Fear, as in he suddenly finds things Frightening, which he didn't before because he was too wee. So maybe I can wean him off a bit now. Though he watched The Empty Child the other week and thought it was hilarious and kept going "mummmeeeeeee" at me and laughing.
