I think that they do us a great favor by implying that there are tons of these 'empty spaces' where the Doctor and Rose apparently don't socialise at all.
Because it leaves us plenty of space to write fic where, say, the Doctor and Mickey slip off for a quiet one and Rose walks in on them and is completely dumbfounded 'cos she thought he didn't like Mickey, and he's like 'Shows what you know, blondie.'
As long as they don't fill in the gaps, we can have all sorts of evil fun with them! ;)
