I haven't actually commented on The Big Bang yet, so I'll do that now.

Yeah, that was pretty much the fantasicest thing I've seen on my telly in a good long while. It was clever without being far fetched, it was funny and touching at the same time, it was epic yet felt intimate and personal, it was everything I want from a finale episode of Who, and not a hint of emo manpain in sight. It was, in fact, the polar opposite of anything RTD's ever done, which is weird, because the threat, the storyline itself, was as world-shattering as anything RTD's ever attempted. The whole universe, all of space and time, ceasing to exist, big threat, yup, but where RTD would illustrate his big threat with EPIC SHOTS of BILLIONS OF DALEKS AT THE TAJ MAHAL AND IN NEW YORK BECAUSE IT'S A BIG THREAT, REALLY, LOOK HOW BIG A THREAT THIS IS, LOOK EVERYONE, LOOOOK HERE'S MURRAY GOLD!!! Moffat chose to not insult our intelligence to quite that extent, he explains the threat, illustrates it with a little girl and an absence of stars and then gets on with the story, a story which actually seemed to have been crafted as an end to the series, which actually tied up loose ends, nodding to the themes that have been playing throughout of memory and remembering, perception and reality and all the rest of it. And at the same time, it was a laugh, it was fun; witty and engaging and clever and exciting and I swear I've watched it about twenty times now and I'm still enthralled by it. And I'm someone who still regrets sitting through Jesus-the-magic-troll just that once. An hour I still haven't had back, by the way. (And those five hours of Children of Earth, Rusty. And Daleks in Manhattan. And all of the Martha series except maybe the Human Nature two-parter. New Earth. Idiot's Lantern. The hideous one where Donna gets mind-wiped. All of the specials. Good God, man, you owe me like a whole day of my life.) Oh, and how wonderful was Smith as a dying old man? Anyone not sold on this guy by now has got to have absolutely no heart whatsoever. Your loss, dudes.

Which brings me to:

OHHEMMGEE, I seriously cannot believe there are people out there who don't love this man. IT'S GODDAMN RORY, PEOPLE! Boy who waited! I LOVE RORY. I'll say it now so you all can get used it, I freaking love Rory. For reals.

Yes, he's a bit of a typical Moffat guy, he's slightly bumbling and incompetent and less able to deal with life than the awesome and beautiful and competent women in his vicinity. That's a thing Moffat does a lot and I can see how it bugs people, but fuck that, man. He's sweet and he's nice it's not like he's useless or a coward or anything like that, he's just a good guy. (And yes, she sure does flirt with the Doctor, but that was laid on so heavily, especially in the last ten minutes of The Big Bang, that I firmly believe it will be A Thing next series. I don't think it's a thing Moffat just hasn't noticed, I firmly believe after this series of Who that there's not a single thing in the world Moffat doesn't notice or does by accident.)

Random observation: Rory reminds me a bit of Arthur Dent. I think that might be why I like him as much as I do. He does that observational thing a lot where he says "you're bringing back the aliens of death" and "now you're getting undressed" and "you're not in the Pandorica." I love that thing. He appears, with every phrase he utters to be trying to take in and process what is going on around him, simply by repeating the facts, out loud, to no-one in particular. "It's a nice day." "You're very tall." "So this is it, we're going to die." <3 <3 <3

I wished for a couple in the TARDIS last year, and it seems I've got my wish. Awesome. I cannot fucking wait for next series.

Oh, and tomorrow, I shall be celebrating the wonderfulness this past Who series and the impending one year anniversary of the tragic death of Ianto Jones by posting a picspam of Richard Ayoade of the Boosh and IT Crowd, whom I have ceased to find "strangely hawt" and now simply find "fucking hott." LOL, I'm so fickle.
