SUP never censored any interests, they took a certain number of interests off the "most popular interests" list for a brief time (fanfiction, depression, sex, bondage, etc) for what would appear to have been a number of reasons. If you searched for those interests they just showed up as they normally would have done. The decision to take them off the most popular list was reversed as soon as people protested, and the most popular page is now back to normal and has been for a few days. I don't agree with what they did, but they've since corrected it, and I can understand what they were TRYING to do. They just didn't go about it very well, but let's face it, they NEVER DO.
The decision to get rid of the basic account was a business decision and SUP have since said as much. Now, it was badly communicated to LJ-ers, but to be fair, I think SUP kind of assumed that anyone who ALREADY HAS an LJ account doesn't really care what options you have when you SIGN UP FOR A NEW ACCOUNT. The option to revert to a basic account will continue to exist for any existing users that had it, so that's not really a majorly big issue for anyone. Again, badly communicated, and perhaps they don't quite understand their userbase enough yet, and the fact that many existing users actually have and continue to create multiple accounts. But, not really something to cut their heads off for. It's a fucking business.
Feel free to protest all you like, I'm sure the Easter weekend will be quiet anyway and it will make not a blind bit of difference. And while you're protesting, try to work out and explain to me exactly what you're protesting about.
OK, so that all sounds a bit hateful and harsh, but I'm just trying to throw in the other side of the argument here. If you really hate LJ that much, leave already.
