My flist today is full of male masturbatory aids and pictures of Gareth David-Lloyd licking people, so my tummy's gone kind of weird.

On which topic, I am going to have chicken noodle soup this evening because it makes me feel 10 years old. YAY. The other day I had macaroni and cheese which pretty much had the same effect. And on that day teh other half had beef stew, and not just any old beef stew no, this:

From that specific can. And I had to post a picture of that specific can because I love it. I love it with a 1950's passion. It's so homey and fuzzy and lovely and the people at Hormel really know what they're selling me here. It makes me feel like June Cleaver just looking at the stuff. The check pattern on the tin there, that cosy tablecloth feeling they're trying to bring across in can form, my God it's fucking ART. (Yes I know it smells and tastes like cat food, this is entirely beside the point) ANYWAY, I post about it because everyone should appreciate product design of this calibre but also because when I made it the other day I noticed for the first time the three little words in an inconspicuous little font just before the phrase "Fresh potatoes & carrots". You see that wee blob there? You know what it says? It says "STILL MADE WITH". As in "Still made with fresh potatoes and carrots", implying somehow that there are other, more unscrupulous manufacturers out there who perhaps are NO LONGER making their beef stew in a can with fresh potatoes and carrots. It's not telling us for sure that this is the case, but it's implying it nonetheless, whilst at the same time again invoking that feeling of homemadey, old-fashioned, grandma's recipe good food in three simple and barely legible words. I salute you, HORMEL, I think I love you all.

Also: does Hormel make anything apart from Dinty Moore, dudes???
