I don't actually think the daughter will die, I'm pretty sure she'll survive and there's actually nothing rigged up that would kill her. He just wants Matheson to blow his brains out, which I reckon he'll probably do. Though why on earth Moran would think that anyone would want to watch a prequel series with that particular ending already set in stone, is anyone's guess. It'll probably be something really lame to do with the two detectives who have not yet played a significant part.
