Ethan Coen, Sam Mendes, Nathalie Portman, Penelope Cruz, Harrison Ford, Jeremy Irons, Kristin Scott Thomas... if you can find me more, let me know, but these people's names have all appeared on the Roman Polanski RAPE=OKAY! rape apologists list... AND HAVE SINCE BEEN TAKEN OFF AGAIN. Oh, wait, no, scratch that, Ford, Irons, Portman, Mendes, and Scott Thomas signed the Bernard Henry Levi petition. The others were on the other petition, I saw the names myself and now they're not there. So that's Penelope Cruz and Ethan Coen and I'm sure there was another woman who's since disappeared, but I can't for the life of me remember who. I know of these two, at least, because Cruz' appearance on the list was a reason for me to start composing a post in my head about how it had given me a valid reason for my completely illogical violent hatred of Penelope Cruz. She's the sort of woman who makes me change the channel hastily and with a degree of venom I only reserve for a precious few. And Ethan Coen because I saw his name and wondered A) WHYYYY LORD, WHYYYY? and B) Why no Joel?

Anyway, you still have my blessing to boycott that new Gilliam film tomorrow on RAPE=RAPE-and-if-fucking-a-drugged-thirteen-year-old-who's-repeatedly-said-no-in-the-ASS-doesn't-qualify-I-don't-know-what-does Day. Fuck you, Gilliam. Fuck you IN THE ASS.

It's easier to learn the names of those 5 people who are willing not to kiss Polanski's arse and call things with their real name. Is there an anti-Polanski celebrities petition by chance?

I wonder how all those Polanski's colleagues can be 100% positive of his innocence. Isn't that just taking sides without having the full insight of how things really went anyway?

A few days ago I reread the list and Ethan Coen was on it, which fucking GUTTED me, even more so than Terry Gilliam. But now he's gone again. I have NO idea how people actually sign this petition, and how they're verifying that people are who they say they are, but I'm assuming it's reasonably rigorous. But perhaps there was sabotage, and then his name was noticed and he asked for it to be removed? I can but hope. If it's not on there anymore, I'm going to thankfully still be able to watch their films, I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt.

I can't give them the benefit of the doubt. If they didn't sign the petition, they should state so.

Or if they signed it not really understanding what Polanski did, then they should apologize. Taking your name off the list when the heat gets turned up does not get you off my "No, Hell no, I'm not supporting your shit" list.

I have been following this dispiriting turn of events on Shakesville blog and it makes me want to cry to think how all these people could want to support that vile sack of shite Polanski. And WTF did Whoopi Goldberg mean by saying that it wasn't 'rape-rape' ?! I always thought Whoopi was cool, different from other Hollywood people. I'm just disgusted with humanity, or rather that part of humanity which could condone such a thing.

This creep has been flaunting the law for decades. He's not much different from the trailer trash pedos, and I don't see Hollywood stars rushing to defend them. I think much of the finger-to-the-wind Hollywood crowd is badly misinformed. I'm not surprised some of them backed off when they saw the public reaction.

It's too bad Polanski wasn't home that night instead of poor Sharon Tate and her unborn baby. I know he's witnessed some of the worst of humanity (Holocaust & Manson gang) but then he goes and unleashes that same ugliness on another. F- him!
