You haven't missed anything, the first special was fucking mediocre as fuck. The whole premise of it being "special" seemed to be that they got to go on holiday and film it in Dubai, when Devon would have sufficed as far as the audience was concerned, and it was marginally longer than an average episode, and therefore 10% more tedious.
