In honour of NaNoWriMo, I am going to experiment for a month with NOT WRITING A NOVEL, because that's probably far better for everyone concerned. What I will be doing, is experimenting with going FRIENDS ONLY on this journal. I get a lot of anonymous comments, I know, and I'm sorry for all of you anons, I'd rather keep everything open, but frankly, I can't be fucking bothered anymore.

If you've friended me and I've friended you back but I actually haven't ever heard from you since in the form of comments on this journal, I'm cutting you off, I've had enough of lurkers as well.

As you were.

I have been reading and commenting here for a while.
I had tagged you rather than friended because I prefer stuff going to my mailbox rather than my flist - but I am friending you now - please don't cut me off!
I promise never to lurk, and to definitely keep commenting.

ETA - Thank you!

I too am doing the world a favor and not writing a novel this month. It can be NaNoWriANoMo or something.

It seems like a lot of people are doing that lately. I think fandom is general - all fandoms - have been extremely volatile lately for some reason. I don't really see much of what happens, but I can tell going down my flist that things have been happening.

It's a shame your going friends only.

I've always found your posts entertaining and truthful, especially in regards to Jack/Ianto and Torchwood/Who in general.

I've been hanging out here for the excellent Torchwood meta (however it's intended). I'd love to stay.

I've signed up for NaNo three years running and written all of three paragraphs for it. It seems the world is safe from my book-inna-month. (Oh shit - it's already November...)

I too will not be writing a novel for Nano... (although I was feeling particular pedantic I would say that 50K words is not novel length - that's a novella) ... neither will I be posting a ticker of how many words I have not written!

:)

I'm not writing one, too! I'm glad we can all be here to support each other and write encouraging posts for each other ... just so we can keep each other on track.

That kind of stuff is important. :)

Well I comment a lot. I may have even gotten you in trouble with people b/c I asked you to post something political. My bad for that one.

But I love reading your stuff. Always will.

And to clarify, I'm one of the nutters attempting NaNo.

I know the feeling *all* too well. I'm glad you've stayed on my flist because I want to be able to celebrate Obama's victory on Tuesday with you, since one of your last political posts was so pessimistic about his winning. hope! :)

Fandom fame is HARD.

And yay, thanks for the keep! (Assuming it's not just that you haven't gotten around to ditching me yet). I always find you interesting, even if I don't always agree.

And kudos on the non-NaNo idea - hope it takes off. I, for one, will be committing to it wholeheartedly.

Hey, I'm doing the same experiment of not writing a novel this month! Although instead I'm going to do the Nat'l Blog Posting Month (not on LJ though, I'm sure you're relieved), what the hell, that only requires me to spout my opinions, which is no problem at all. (link to my blog is on my page, even though I'm sure no one's interested - it's called crabbyanne). You could make this LJ public when there's more to comment on in the TW/DW world. Sorry you're getting too much bitching, etc. I love your commentary!

UNPOPULAR OPINION TIEM:

Personally, I've never thought that NaNoWriMo was that fantastic an idea in the first place. I'm sure it inspires a lot of good writers who have been sitting on good novel ideas to actually sit down and write it, but form what I've seen it mostly just inspires a lot of craptastic writers who really shouldn't be writing anything to write that truly dreadful novel they've been thinking about. It just seems to me like if you were really serious about writing a novel you would have already done so instead of waiting for this internet-organized occasion; plus, I find the word and time limit silly.

...But that's just me being a dickhead.

I hope you're not cutting me off. I usually respond to comments OTHERS have made about your posts.

Since I never been able to manage anything longer drabble, I won't be writing one either. I guess I could write 5,000 drabbles. Don't worry, I'm joking.

I think you should sponsor NaNoPieMo which can either be a more of exhorting GDL to eat no more pie or a month of pie-free commentary, your choice of course.

Hiya, sorry. Lurker here. I knew I shouldn't have been reading your page and I am really sorry, but I stumbled onto it and was really interested and kept coming back. I was mainly still waiting for the second part of that Jack Ianto thing you did with the funny picures and captions before the summer. I didn't have a livejournal account until last week and I only set one up to send some dopey obsessive fanmail to Invisible Lift (I love him). I wanted to say hi to you too but I was too shy and wanted to wait till you were in a better mood. I could tell you have been having a tough time lately. Anyway, I am really sorry for reading over your shoulder as it were but I am a bit of a Torchwood addict and I needed a fix of funny meta and pics etc.
I am very sad that you are going friends only as I loved your stuff but i understand that it must be crap to get bitched about. I don't understand why people are being like that. Hope you feel better when it is done, this is only a little hobby eh. It shouldn't upset you. I only obssess about Jack/Ianto/TW in general really to take my mind off real life, job, family etc. If its the same for you then it is daft that people are upsetting you like this when the whole fandom should just be an excuse to play around with ideas knowing that it doesn't matter a jot. Anyway, rambling here. Thanks for all the cool postings that you have let all us weird non LJ people read. Lots of love, 21st Century Ood

The one thing I never got about NaWrwhatever is how people find the time to write a 50,000 novel. Don't they sleep for a month or something?

I'm not sure whether I've commented to you or not, I keep meaning to - I meant to with the recent John B. stuff cos your entries felt like a refreshing take on actors and the parts they play on and off the stage...

I'm completely on the fringes of Dr Who/Torchwood cos it feels like it gets very intense and I probably lurrve the shows more than the other fans.

Comment.

Um... I've only recently started reading your blog (mostly for pie-status) and I know we're not friends, but I'm not horrific and would love to continue reading your blog.

May I friend you?
