Haha SPOILERS DON'T READ
In Russell's world, bumsex with Russell Tovey pretty much fixes all your emo manpain, no matter how vast, yeah?
That's pretty faily right there. Not as faily as that thing with Martha and you know who, but still pretty fucking offensively faily. As was that thing with Donna. Wow, that's a lot of fucking fail to heap upon an awful lot of companions.
DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOUR ASS RUSSELL.
Also, did Simm just disappear, never to be mentioned again, or did it just seem that way?

Also, I might be mistaken, but it seems like the Master suddenly disappeared in the middle of a scene, and was never mentioned again, like a plot point they just forgot to pick up.

Ahhh..I do look forward to seeing this. So, they didn't show the regeneration and the Doctor was alone when this happened. I'm sure I'll be crying when I do watch. I'm a very emotional person. :-)

You'll get your regeneration. Don't worry.

It's like you could hear him screaming from the hilltops. I AM RUSSELL T DAVIES. THIS IS WHAT I DID. AM I NOT AWESOME? And the universal reply was.."Oh sure...Hey, look! It's the new guy!" History won't be kind to this episode. In the greater context of DW I doubt this will go down well. Rusty never did understand context.
Still love Simm's Master - yes, even after that - so I'm happy he can come back in the Moffat era. I prefer the continuity of the Master. He shouldn't change just because the Doctor does. I'm hoping Moffat might reign him in a bit, though.
Honestly, I thought the Alonso/Jack at the Cantina thing was cute. Jack moves on, and always has. Ianto was never his one true love, and that never bothered me. He's been around 1,000s of years now. I would imagine he deals with that kind of loss pretty well at this point. Didn't need the scene, but the scene on its own didn't bug me. (Plus, I think someone on GB won bingo with it)
The Martha thing on the other hand...Really? REALLY?! That was bullshit of epic proportions. When did we establish that she no longer loved the awesome, heroic doctor she was engaged to? Oh Yeah, they're both black. *eyeroll* I like the idea of her and Mickey working together, but they should work with UNIT. And not be fucking married. Russell's issues with authority have hurt the show.
Also, I want my fucking Time Lords back!! Proper fucking Time Lords. Parental figures of old. No more lonely Time Lord. No more "they went crraaaazzy!" bullshit. For God's sake, please?!

I agree with what I've read elsewehere, which is that this episode was purely about how much RTD loves Ten and about how much Ten loves Ten, and if you don't love Ten as much as RTD and Ten do, then you're pretty fucked. That was awful. And Donna never got her brain back. Ew.

Anyone want to write some fic about the Captain and the Midshipman roaming across space and having sexytiems until the Midshipman dumps him for being a cock?
WTF! Martha and Mickey? Married? Oh Rusty you are a hoot, and you have such control over your characters to rewrite their canon history. Your powers are awesum, Mr Davies!
And Donna, so her head wouldn't really 'splode then? So what the hell was all that DOOM shit about her not being able to remember him at all, ever, ever again. At least she got married to a nice bloke, in what looked like the same wedding dress from her first appearance.
You really wonder why he bothered to put all the crap in at the end about the Doctor seeing all his old "mates" - what did it serve?
The Master is still there for Moffat to pull him out as a handy plot device if he cocks up royally.
My Dad, who hasn't really watched new Who, said that it had to be the longest goodbye in history.

I do kinda love that in all this Rusty managed to work in his hard on for Russell Tovey. I don't think Tovey would touch him with a 1,000 meter cock, but dammit, if he didn't get to establish that his character is omni and willing. Now Tovey can go back to the actually good show that he's on...

There was no emo mainpain. Ianto was just a casual meaningless shag who was there until Jack finds a woman and true love. Did you not watch CoE and the rest of Torchwood?
Not as faily as that thing with Martha and you know who,
Why do the whole Tom Milligan thing then drop it?
As was that thing with Donna.
Least she seemed happy, shame the first part of the End of Time made out she was settling.

And why did it take half an hour to say goodbye? (And for his regeneration to actually start?)

I'm glad it's not just me who thought that having Martha and Mickey get together was a little 'racist' when she was apparently engaged to Tom.
I did find Jack's scene uncomfortable to watch, especially as Russell chose Tovey to play the lust interest. I'm going to find it so hard to watch Torchwood series 4, I just know it, Jack's love life can only get more boring as he goes from pretty lover to pretty lover.

For anyone who thinks RTD is above criticism, I bring you two very funny and on point critiques of other men who in one case created amazing characters, but isn't the best loved writer of those characters.
George fucking Lucas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxKtZmQgxrI
Watch this regardless. It's a masterclass in how someone can fuck up something that should have been simple, and goes in depth into what creates good stories.
And another who is well known for intricate TV work, and took on a beloved universe, and got both stellar and mediocre reviews for it.
JJ fucking Abrams and his Star Trek reboot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRNHpX5_Ek8
Actually watch as many of these videos as you can. You'll be better viewer of everything for it!

Realizing that the Martha/Mickey pairing would have worked if they had been in CoE, I'm giving RTD a pass on that one so long as it was already filmed by the time they didn't renew. If RTD knew and didn't bother to rewrite 30 seconds of script, then again its lazy and a slap to the audience.
The list of what I didn't like is much longer.
Whole Time Lord Thing. I go back to the Tom Baker days and this still didn't make a whole lot of sense.
Star Wars rip offs. Unless it was supposed to be a tribute to Lucas (which I doubt cause RTD will tell you that nobody is as great as RTD) the space ships, the Wilf with the MF guns shooting as the missiles from earth, even the set up of the battle is vintage SW. Ditto on the Time Lord chamber and costumes. And the bar scene - even some of the same aliens (as well as reed instrument based music). WTF - total lack of imagination.
So much angst about dying. Hero-pain way over the top. What other Doctor met his regeneration with so little dignity?
And he saves the SJ's son, and Mickey and Martha, and I guess Donna (cause her head exploded but she lived) and Jack gets laid. That's right, as compensation for having Ianto and Steven die and losing any ties to his daughter, to the point where he cannot even stay on planet earth and be of support to his friend Gwen, he gets a piece of ass. Meh.
And just like TW - let's blow up the sets so no one can use my stuff.
I'm actually looking forward to the new season.

I have to admit they do have chemistry, but it still felt kind of lazy like they were the only two left of the Doctor's crew so why not put them together so we don't have to both with separate goodbyes.
