That is a thing of beauty! How could you not want to buy that face a pony?

[identity profile] love-jackianto.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww. They really captured his nose :D

Ok, I have a few questions. Just in the spirit of research, you know.
Do his clothes come off? (What?)
And if so does he have spare outfits? (has he got undies? Anything under the undies?)
Have you been talking to him?
Have you been kissing him?
Have you given him a little cup of coffee yet? (I would recommend a lego cup)
Have you been hunting round the house for appropriate accessories for him? (e.g. big guns, hard hats)
Gosh, I really am very curious. Maybe I should get my own little Ianto.

[identity profile] margotleadbett.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You have behaved very properly. I would have let silliness get the better of me. Maybe that's a good reason for me not have a little Ianto.

[identity profile] rowanswhimsy.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to pose my little Spike and Buffy in ways design to torment my little Angel. Obviously I lack your maturity. :-)

We can just pretend that Jack's watching. Or that we've blinded Jack so he can't watch. Whatever you think will hurt Jack more.

Because I'm not fully awake, I just read your post as the caption to your icon and had massive crossover lols.

ME WANTS MORE PICTURES!

[identity profile] dune-drd.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure... I wouldn't mind a Real GDL Picspam, too ^^

[identity profile] smirnoffmule.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are the bluest eyes I have ever ever seen. Clearly the colourist has been paying attention to Ianto in full on woobie-my-eyes-are-as-deep-and-wet-as-the-ocean mode.

I have it on good authority that his gun is NOT tiny. Bite your tongue.

that is almost tempting enough to make me buy one, almost ...
*thinks about it*

I think I'll stick with wallpapers

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Good point - which leads me to an interesting dilemna. Since I know I'm done with Torchwood, I'd like to own the S1 & S2 DVDs. But I'll be damned if I'm going to give any $ or apparent support (Oh, look at how many NEW watchers are buying the past season stuff)to our friends at the BBC.

Other than ebay, any ideas on how to get these without enriching BBC, RTD, et al?

[personal profile] jo02 2009-07-31 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Link through from Amazon and/or Amazon.uk to any parties selling them second-hand, and pick one(s) in very good or as-new condition.

That's how I'll be doing it for CoE because like a lot of people, I'll be damned if I'll give them full-price AND contribute to the sales figures for CoE.

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
He's sooo cute! Love da nose!

[identity profile] travellingone.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'll buy one and put him next to the two Jacks I already have.

The Jacks are still in their packaging. Ianto should be safe.

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
So after I posed the question about the S1 & S2 DVDs, I went onto ebay and found..uh, the S1&2 being sold for a lot more than CoE.

Hmmm...then I checked out the BBCA store.

Season 1 DVD Widescreen $67.98
Season 1 Blu-Ray $84.98

Season 2 DVD Widescreen & Blu-Ray $67.98

COE Widescreen $25.98
COE Blu-Ray $29.98

This is their own frickin store! Where you make the REAL money on TV shows

The marketplace has spoken - EPIC FAIL

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Good point - let me look at the site again and see if I can find comparables.

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oi! this is a tough one. But as a point of comparison on Amazon.com US-

DVD for Planet of the Dead retailed for $14.98, reduced to $11.49 (24% price drop 1 week after US showing)

DVD for COE retailed for $29.98 reduced to $14.49 (50% price drop 3 weeks after showing)

S1 - retailed for $79.98, now reduced to $47.49 (40% price drop after 3 years - but don't know when the price first dropped).

And to be fair - some new and pre- releases are showing price reductions though more in the 20%-25% range.

But even at half the length, they really priced the CoE DVD to sell.
Its had 26 days in the top 100 trending downwards. If it really was a runaway hit I think they would have priced it a bit higher and wouldn't be showing a 50% price drop within 3 weeks.

I also think the 5 hour mini-series format is harder to sell as a DVD. Its easy to find an hr to watch 1 TV episode; 2 hours for most movies, but one 5 hour story arc is a bit long.

I found an interesting article about BBC at Digital Spy.
http://www.digitalspy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1071894.

Unfortunately, its pre-COE - but I'd be interested if anyone can find the actual DVD sales figures.

I have already noticed this. I stared at it for ages. I was full of glee

[identity profile] satanassa.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I too want more pictures of the Ianto dolly! Someone on torch_wood posted a very funny fic they are doing with photos of all the dollies -- Jack, various Doctors, Master, Donna etc, and the next installment will feature Ianto!

Oh, I read your comment on RTD's latest interview at 'AfterElton'. At least, I think it was you, it was under the name 'WhyaWhelk'. Good for you! I'd comment there too, only I'm reluctant to register at yet another site.
ext_14908: (Awww Ianto (satansicons))

[identity profile] venusinchains.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The buttony nose IS adorable. :P As are the bluer-than-blue eyes. And the suit (though I kinda wish they'd gone with the purple one...).

[identity profile] kel-reiley.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
a buttony nose and a seam down his neck
I KNEW IANTO WAS A ROBOT!

[identity profile] kurthummel.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
My love for this doll just skyrocketed.

[identity profile] cionaudha.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
That is heartbreakingly adorable. I just want to take the tiniest of nibbles.

That profile is flawless!

If they'd gotten that unruly flip of hair at the nape of his neck as well, then I don't know what.

His lips should be more kissy-pink though. He has the pinkest lips I've ever seen on a guy.
