OF COURSE THE WRITERS HATE US AND ARE LAZY. THIS IS NOT OPINION, THIS IS FACT.
I think Ianto would INITIALLY bond with the Doctor over suits AND Jack's sluttiness, but I think the Doctor's ADHD would bug the crap out of him. All that TARDIS lurching about would make him keep spilling his coffee on his beloved suits, and add to that the above jealousy and eye-rolling at Jack's mooniness over him.
Do The Young Hip Welsh City Kids Of Today generally speak Welsh, or is it just sort of a you-learn-it-in-school type of thing? Because whatever they do, I think that's probably what Ianto does.
Ianto is SO the dom. No-brainer. Jack's really a much better follower (Doctor Who) than leader (Torchwood). Plus Ianto likes being in control, and you know Jack sees his leadership as a big hassle and strain and likes to escape and forget. Plus Ianto's mind is a hundred times more devious and filthy than Jack's. Still waters run deep.
And I think even despite Jack's omniflirtatiousness, there are some people he just wouldn't do, and the evil alien-killing Victorian lesbians are two of those people.

my mate Jonny reckons Ianto got caught stealing a mars bar... I would so love it if that were true :D
Re: Jack being buried, I don't think the writers care all that much about the specifics of Jack's immortality, as evidenced by him crying in the car with whatsisname as he kills himself in "Out Of Time."
I think he died over and over again, but since it was a penance that he undertook willingly, he didn't go insane, he thought he deserved it and took it stoically. And he was probably only semiconscious.

If he treats Jack the way he did in Utopia, well, game on.
I agree. I think a lot of how Ianto would react will be contingent upon how the Doctor treats Jack upon meeting him.

These polls have made my workday a lot easier to endure (real estate, nothing going on, you know the drill...).
Am I the only one that can really picture shoplifting Ianto...after Gareth's portrayal of Ianto saying no to Jack in End of Days, that boy was totally susceptable to peer pressure...I imagine he had one very cool (not totally un-Jack like) friend who was a bit of a rebel and Ianto did it, convinced that he could impress said friend, like the way he tried on several personas in Fragments (I'm picturing cassette tapes from an indpendent music store)
And drifter Ianto...I'm feeling that, he basically said that Torchwood gave him meaning in Adam, I wouldn't be surprised if orphan, drifter Ianto came to London and met Lisa who hooked him up with the job at Torchwood in the first place.

'But he has such a DOM personality!'
Oh yes, Ianto is completely I charge of his relationship with Jack.

'Ianto's had sex with Yvonne Hartman, right? Right?'
That's how he got the job in the first place- those tight jeans had to come from somewhere. Where is all the Yvonne/Ianto fic, it intrigues me in a vaguely disturbing way.
'IF Ianto were to meet the Doctor, how would they be together?'
I think that is really depends on how the Doctor treats Jack.
I'm convinced that the TARDIS will love him- all he have to do is give her a good thorough cleaning, she'd love the attention.

But it wasn't the pressure from his team members that compelled him to rebel against Jack; it was the thought of saving many lives. He was the only team member who wanted to open the rift for unselfish reasons (after seeing “Fragments,” Jack’s very pointed and pained expression over Ianto’s choice makes so much more sense now.).
I really think Ianto meddled with the computer files as others have suggested.

A) Agree with nightspring on the Doctor/Ianto thing.
B) Jack and Sleep, from the scientific aspect.
I admit, I'm terribly curious about Jack's physiology. From what I gather he's a relatively normal human man (sans immortality, obviously) with potentially slightly higher than normal metabolism, which would allow him to heal more quickly than others and in no way explains the new muffin top. And, I believe, he *can* be injured or catch illness, though I don't think I can recall an instance in the show where we see direct evidence of this (anyone remember seeing him with bruises and such?).
If, then, Jack's physiology allows him to be injured and get sick, then to recover from those things he pretty much has to sleep. One of the main functions of sleep is to allow the body to repair the damage done by free radicals produced by the metabolic process. This is why small animals, like dogs and cats, with extremely high metabolism, sleep 14-18 hours per day and only live 15 years, while large creatures with very slow metabolism, like elephants, sleep only 4 hours a day and live for a very long time. The higher the metabolism, the more free radicals and damage done to the body.
Further, one of the main functions of REM sleep is the need for the subconscious mind to process information and incorporate that data into the mind. People do not learn new things well if they don't have REM sleep, but, more importantly, people go completely and totally crazy in a matter of weeks if they don't have enough REM sleep.
It's quite possible Jack is a bit of an insomniac, but he would need at least an average of four hours per night in order to keep his body in fairly good working condition.

One instance of Jack staying bruised -- he gets punched in the mouth by Ianto in Cyberwoman, at the end of the episode when Ianto's tidying up the Hub, he's still got the bruise. and I don't believe TW has ever met human physiology let alone learned to welcome it. Jack not sleeping is nothing compared to the lack of plausibility around zombie!Owen

I know, I know. I was going to say something about Owen, but that'd take forever. At least they TRIED to make somethings vaguely plausible with Owen, with him not eating, sleeping, repairing himself. I'm not saying you could drive a Mack truck through the holes there BUT... I'm afraid that my previous comment is turning me into Brandon in "Galaxy Quest" already.
(Would you believe I'm only 63% geek?)
The funniest thing about Owen is how he's not supposed to be breathing but still starts sucking wind every time he runs.

Your poll(s) are brilliant!
Nightspring is spot-on on the Ianto/Doctor meeting.
As for Jack's buried-for-all-timeness, you missed an option, namely:
Yes, he was buried all that time and he died ONCE OR TWICE before he ran out of air. The coat was fine because the writers hate us or are lazy. Coat NOT magic.
And Ianto is DEFINITELY the dom. Anyone who can't see that he is 110% in charge in the relationship isn't watching the same programme as I! ;-)

Yeah. I think "the writers are lazy and hate us" is the answer to all of these questions. Except for the one about the Doctor and Ianto. They make us do all the work, dammit.
Hee clicky poll time!
I would have loved to be able to click multiple boxes for the Victorian Lesbians, because GOD YES. OFTEN. really goes with .Nope, they scared him.
*drools over dom Ianto*

Hey howdy hey, pardon me for the intrusionary. Yes, I know that's not a word. I'm an English student, they let us make up the words.
Anywho, I was wondering if I could ask you a mahooooosive favour. I'm writing a paper about sex and relationships and their presentation in Torchwood, particularly focusing on Jack, and I was wondering if you'd mind me citing some of the figures from this poll and your last one in my research? I was gonna do a similar poll for it anyway, but my reasoning for stealing your results is twofold
1. I'm a student, ergo lazy
2. People will get sick of having to answer so many Jack/Ianto related polls, and then they will kill us all to death. With sticks. And pterodactyls. Yes, I know I'm being random. It's been a long day and I'm tired.
Hope that's OK with you-let me know either way

NO -- heavens -- I didn't mean you. It just boggles when you view the results and see how many people DO get it wrong.
Sometimes this fandom scares me.....

Sure, that shouldn't be a problem. And thanks for agreeing to me steal borrowing your Skience-type stuffs

I've got a theory (*cue Buffy musical singing*) about Ianto's schooling/job record.
He is SO fantastic and amazing he just couldn't give a damn in school because they were all so much slower than him so had average reports and all that, didn't want or care about the attention being true to himself was. The 'shoplifting' was a cry for attention from a misguided genius.
Because of that criminal record, despite being a genius he had to sleep with Ms Hartman to get the job.

Was Jack REALLY buried for ALL THAT TIME, how often did he die and and how did this affect him?
Yeah, he died a lot. But then Torchwood found him, cleaned up his magic coat a bit, stuck him in freezer and when he came out in 150 some odd years he was fine. Problem solved. Ish. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I think Ianto and the Doctor would be wary of each other (for different reasons), but would generally get along and respect each other.
Oh, and as for the Ianto sexing Yvonne thing: I don't see that happening, but I could see him sexing his immediate supervisor (maybe that's what Lisa was ;)).

I think the Doctor-Ianto relationship is going to depend a lot on how exactly they meet. If they meet and the Doctor is whisking Jack away to possible harm, Ianto is going to be unhappy with him. If they meet and Jack's brought the team along to help and show them off, I think Ianto will be cool with the Doctor.
The Doctor might be a little dismissive of Torchwood in general, but I expect he'll be impressed by Ianto's general awesomeness given time.
