See... the thing is...

When you DECLINE my request to join the [livejournal.com profile] savecoffeeboy community, a request I submitted in order to attempt to find out if this MASSIVE PDF was an official document of yours, or a personal project, you really make yourselves look like you're up to something if not suspicious, at the least really rather bordering on the crazy side.

I've PM'd you guys and I've mailed you, whoever's in charge of this document:

TAKE MY NAME, MY WORDS, MY COMMUNITY, MY PONY CAMPAIGN AND MY IMAGES OUT OF YOUR GARGANTUAN FILE OF BATSHIT. I am not affiliated with your insanity.

I don't know if its the same book, but a book was given to GDL, John, and sent to BBC offices.

I feel so embarrassed for GDL, whose employer now has seen him misquoted, and also which T shirts he ordered (which surely should be confidential.) This must be totally mortifying for him.

Weeks? How about MONTHS?

How about within weeks of the broadcast of Day 5?

And yeah, that's "the book." They gave bound copies to GDL, who appeared chuffed and impressed and to JB who seemed considerably less so, and of course the one sent to the BBC, which they are convinced will accomplish all their goals.

It's taken them this long to compile and get bound. The link went up a few days ago, but only yesterday did they deem it fit for public consumption beyond their f-locked (ahem) circle.

Wow! I usually only see that kind of thing in the Supernatural fandom. The stories I could tell you. No wonder people think ALL fangirls/boys are crazy.

I won't comment on the SPN fandom, which is its own brand of crazy, but I'm somewhat heartened to see people I consider "mainstream" J/I fans sort of shaking their heads at this thing, rather than embracing it.

That fandom is so crazy that TPTB actually made it canon.

I don't know how mainstream I am but I'm shaking my head.

By the way have you bought the Due South dvds?

Thanks for reminder...so I can remind Hubby when he asks what I want for Christmas. :)

Hope you like the show.

Something is up. My sources tell me they've deleted their own link, and want people to stop posting it. Kind of late to try and get that toothbpaste back in the tube if you ask me.

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
What a load of rubbish. But you do know that you can search on your 'name' and go directly to any page where its used, right?

[identity profile] karaokegal.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I meant they deleted the post in their comm with the link. And that they're definitely trying to pull back some of the pimpage. More on this story as it develops.

Latest word from my peeps is that they want to correct the PDF because "here is a danger of crediting the owner of a site with an image/graphic when in fact they themselves have imported it."

So far nothing about removing material or people's names that are being used without permission.

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope someone here has saved the pdf on their hard drive.

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
The report of the pdf's demise are overstated. I just went and downloaded it from the link in your previous post. Only took 4 minutes.

But do I have to read it? The title page "Why,Why,Why" made me think of Nancy Kerigan.

Only one use of my name on a page that shows a sampling of fan fictions for the day, the majority of which are said to be Ianto/Jack pairing.

Mine - Ianto, Owen, Martha.

But that's embarrassing in itself. Not you personally, but WTF has the fan fiction got to do with a campaign to bring a character back? As if the BBC could give a damn about which bits of their intellectual property are ripped off on any given day. This just gets more painful.

I can just imagine that it has led to lots of good laughs in the BBC offices. Whereas some of the other stuff, well that was good, like the fundraising, and the shrine.

[identity profile] aviv-b.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I just scrolled through the whole thing and found a couple of things I posted on LJ (I'm pretty sure at least one was here), as unattributed fan reaction.

Don't really have a problem with that, but don't know what good it does to cherry pick the fan remarks you like. For every negative remark in this 'report' the BBC can easily point to a positive remark on-line.

I would have a problem if they used a remark I made, with my LJ identity without my approval.

I can't decide whether to go through the whole thing to look or not, as I've found our comm stuff their already, which was just pasted in without asking. However I am mortified by the hard copy, I don't know how much difference it makes if things get taken out of the PDF.
