If Richard Ayoade was Eleven, it would be the best thing in the history of the world. I'm curious as to why your money's on Richard Coyle? I haven't heard his name bandied around, though I haven't really been looking either.

I am still holding out hope for Paterson Joseph as he's awesome....but whomever it is, they will be awesome.
ETA: Supposedly The Guardian is saying its between Joseph, the other guys who's name I can't pronounce let alone spell, and Ben Wishaw (who I just went and looked up and he looks WAY too much like Tennant for it to be serious).
I don't know if this is something that's already been discussed to death elsewhere, but I've been wondering: since they're replacing Tennant what are they going to do about that whole ginormously important relationship that Ten!doctor is supposed to have with River Song sometime in his future?
Someone elsewhere handwaved it as River actually meeting up with Hand!Doctor while he'd managed to stray into "our" universe through that oh-so-impermeable rift-between-realities from the zep!verse.

IIRC, River never said she'd met this version of the Doctor before. She said that he was 'younger than she'd ever seen him', which didn't necessarily mean that she'd met say a 50year old looking Ten, just that whichever version 11, 12, 13 she'd met was older looking. So they could still have her meeting 11.
Heee, I'm not overly-excited about who the new Doctor is either, though I'm curious of course. I'm annoyed that I can't get on the Torchwood forum because of this announcement. :)
TBH when I saw it was about to be announced my sad little fangirl heart nearly leapt out of my chest. Followed rapidly by the even sadder thought, "I hope it's not James Nesbitt. I don't think I could fancy James Nesbitt."
Apparently someone bumped into Peter Davidson a week ago and he told them that the announcement would be made this Saturday but it will be someone most people have never heard of. Don't know if it's true or not.
