LOL. Yeah, I'm not actually talking so much on a personal level, but I think that is part of the general appeal of the toyboy to the discerning slightly more experienced lady about town. It's that thing he has, like you say, something you'd have expected him to have grown out of by now, that makes him come across as very young, and makes me feel very old by comparison, though I'm only six years his senior. The average 27-year-old guy would probably not make me feel like a dirty old woman for perving over him, but for some reason he does. It's kind of weird. (Someone on eldersquee said she made him feel like a dirty old woman when she's bloody YOUNGER than he is.)

I'm just still adjusting from seeing his actions and thinking PHWOAR, to seeing them and thinking AWWW. I saw that post from the younger woman, and the whole thing really just...exactly. But damn, he's pretty.
But about my post above, I really do find it interesting that he is so astute despite his immaturity. When he grow up he'll be quite the force to be reckoned with. All this has got me thinking about his unemployment too. No one will hire him? If you can act and show up on time there is always employment at some level. Either he needs a new agency, or his immaturity is getting the way. I hope that they teach the 'artist as a small business' model in the UK. He could use it. Especially since I could totally see him as the type to have success in America. Chibnall goes nuts over him for a reason. He has the potential. He just has to capitalize on it.

I think he needs a new agency. (*googles around* Why haven't CAM London even updated his cv to include Torchwood? *is suspicious*) If I were his agent (I'm saying that a lot lately) I'd totally be whoring him out to the States right now while he's hot. He's got two cons coming up, but that's about it and no telly at all. What happened to the days when the attractive-but-not-conventionally-so-endearingly-accented Ewan McGregors of this world were shoved into ER at any given opportunity? Or possibly House nowadays.

Considering how much attention he should be getting in the UK right now, and the people praising him are not at the bottom of the barrel, I can't believe his agency isn't capitalizing on this. Think of the commissions.
He is ripe for America. I've seen a lot of UK actors who aren't (Ioan Gruffudd, I am looking at you.), but he is. If he could master some sort of nondescript accent...dude. He could be A List if he tried. Totally Sean Penn/ Christian Bale quirky A list type. He's just got that attitude. He fits here.
The thing is, I don't know if he is aiming high enough. He needs to reach for A list to even get there. Even if all he wants is the damn farmhouse in bumfuck Wales, he needs money and free time to do that. Aiming high in his career will get him that.

We were discussing all that shiz here, yeah. I rib on his agent a lot, mostly because of his shocking not-been-updated-in-three-years cv and headshot, but also because:
A) Gareth DOES seem to complain quite a bit about a lack of work, and that's just fucking bizarre for a guy in his position and it means either his agent's not getting off his arse and getting him some minor US shit, which he could easily be in the running for or his agent's let the BBC get away with a strangling exclusive BBC contract and then proceed to not utilise him. Either way that's pretty bad.
B) Gareth REALLY needs someone to sit him down and tell him some home truths, one of which would be to lay off the beer. I'm hearing from every corner that he's WAY less pudgy than he comes across on screen, which means that basically, the camera is just REALLY UNKIND to him, and someone needs to tell him to get a workout, or a tan, or both to improve that. And while they're at it, they need to kick him up the backside generally because complaining about how hard it is to make it in the States doesn't get you anywhere, and he could have guested on House or Law and Order by now without even trying. Or Burn Notice, apparently, that seems to be the popular choice.

I remember coming across his agent's site a while back and being taken aback by the WTFery. Suffocating Beeb contract or no, that's no way to advertise your wares.
Oh, no tan please! His skin is perrrrrrfect. <3 Less beer for sure, for more reasons than one. I realize that "drunkard" is #2 on his list, but it'll catch up with him. Though at his age I was a pretty dedicated drunkard myself, and having myself a time.

I once made a mean joke about his gf in Day One, and said there wasn't a filter in the world that could disguise the pale Welshness of her thighs. I don't really mean a tan, it's just that the British complexion can be pretty camera unfriendly, and quickly makes a person look ill or puffy, a slight glow usually works wonders.
(I'd love to see him on House, too, I don't know why, the idea really appeals. Burn Notice is a comedy drama thing with Bruce Campell, I think it's on USA.)
