THE DEFINITIVE FANON GUIDE TO JACK AND IANTO, PART THE FIRST

Now that we've all calmed down a bit, it's time for some science. I have put together a wee poll to find out what is going on in ALL YOUR PRETTY LITTLE HEADS. There have been many things we haven't been told about Jack and Ianto, most of us have filled in the blanks with out own personal fanon, and I'd like to know what, on the whole, that fanon comprises. On with the science...

[Poll #1171935]

If you have any other questions you think need adressing, let me know and we'll do another one before we start analysing numbers, yeah?

Jack's HOLE, lol.

I actually reckon the exchange of looks about the hockey stick was more "Where did you get that from, and wtf use do you imagine it's going to be?" than "You fished that out from under the bed?!"

Oh, I forgot about that line!

Where the heck did we first hear about Jack's hole, anyway? I don't even remember.

We saw him in it during Small Worlds

Is that the only time it's ever been mentioned? I know it's the only time it's been seen.

I know he has a habit of telling people he doesn't sleep, so I am thinking it wasn't mentioned, and I know there was one deleted scene where Ianto was coming out of his space but I honestly can't tell you what one that was from.

Ok, riddle me this, Batman: Jack says he doesn't sleep-- and it has certainly become fanon that he doesn't sleep-- so just WTF was he doing when he had that dream about his men in Lahore in 1909? That, to me, looked a lot like sleeping. If he was just 'remembering,' he would have done his 'I'm sitting at my desk looking distant and pensive' thing.

Personally, I tend to think that he *can* sleep, he just doesn't do very much of it. I mean, if I were immortal, I'd *cling* to sleep as a means of keeping my sanity over the millions and millions and millions of days I'd have to be alive.

Can't remember the exact scene, but Jack was telling Gwen all about Torchwood/what he does.
Gwen (half joking) asked him "When do you sleep?"
Jack's reply was "I don't"
Now I never took that literally. I thought he was just winding Gwen up a bit at that point. Jack seems to have all the other basic body functions that non-immortals do - he still eats and drinks - so there's no logical reason why he wouldn't need sleep - maybe not as much as a regular human, but some anyway.

The look on his face! The eyebrows!

Gareth kills me with his eyebrows, he really does.

Oh, no worries, I was just curious, I don't remember it. Then again, much of season one went by in a hazy two days' obsession.

what on earth is everyone doing awake at this hour? It's great!

deleted scenes for S01E10 'Out of time'

Ah, but that scene was tragically cut.

(Why is Ianto *removing* an obviously clean and ironed shirt from the hole? Does Jack change in his office? He must go through a lot of shirts what with all the shootings and stabbings.)

[identity profile] rainshadowsfic.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
oh oh oh. I need to get those dvds.

Since they're talking about the rift-stranded people at the time, I always figured he was getting some clothes for John to wear, and Jack was more his size than either Ianto or Owen would have been. The entire scene got deleted, so no telling if the plan was to have Gwen lend clothes to the girls, since Tosh would have been too small. They appear to have glossed over wardrobe issues, by letting them have luggage on the flight instead.
That may be why the deleted the scene (since it was actually a good exposition scene), because Ianto rooting around Jack's personal space for clothes didn't make any sense in or out of context.

Its existence may first become clear in Small Worlds, where we see Jack sleeping in it.
