THE DEFINITIVE FANON GUIDE TO JACK AND IANTO, PART THE FIRST

Now that we've all calmed down a bit, it's time for some science. I have put together a wee poll to find out what is going on in ALL YOUR PRETTY LITTLE HEADS. There have been many things we haven't been told about Jack and Ianto, most of us have filled in the blanks with out own personal fanon, and I'd like to know what, on the whole, that fanon comprises. On with the science...

[Poll #1171935]

If you have any other questions you think need adressing, let me know and we'll do another one before we start analysing numbers, yeah?

'But the foursome I can see happening sort of as a comfort thing, at least short term. I think everybody needs everybody right now.'
That makes sense.

I don't think Ianto likes John either, he certainly doesn't trust him. I can't see it either.

[identity profile] kakareen.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, hell, never mind Ianto, it's clear that Jack doesn't even want to get *near* all of that emotional baggage. John is the poster-child of 'high-maintainence'.

I get that response for the Foursome whenever I mention it. Most people don't think of it, but they find it doesn't scream WRONG when they consider it.

Unlike Gwen/Jack/Ianto. WRONG. Or Gwen/Jack. OMGWTFBBQ BEYOND WRONG.

I think he carries out the garbage for her and fixes things what break. [Actually, the Ianto in my head lives with an aunt or a female friend of his deceased mum. And he carries out the garbage for her.]

mmm, strike the labelist environment. We need to make people aware of the fact there is more to life than black and white *sigh*

I never look at gay couples that way, but then again, my vision is completely screwed up by the fact that I don't feel the need to do that. I just don't care.
Sure, some of my gay friends are more domestic than others, that says absolutely *nothing* about their sex-life, or their work environment. Just like the roles me and my hubby have in life define our domestic- or sex-life.
People are diverse and complicated creatures.

That said, I'm the first to yell 'screaming queen' when seeing a very effeminate gay man on tv. Hey, I never said I was perfect.

Gareth once said that he felt Ianto had an outfit for every occasion. I think that sums Ianto up perfectly. He's versatile and can adapt to every situation. ;)

As for being gay and having fashion sense. I know :)
I have a sixteen year old, straight, son who has a very good sense of fashion (and who's so sick of his mum asking his opinion on her chosen outfit for the day)
Clichés *rolls eyes*

Great poll!

I loved this! And I loved reading all the comments. There are some very clever and witty people in this fandom. ♥

I've been missing Torchwood, and I'm not really into Dr Who, although I'm wavering ...

I see that you're happy to be friended, so I'm hopping on board to keep up with your posts. :-)

re: Ianto Jones and kink...

I chose "a bit kinky", but actually I believe he AMUSES Jack with his filthy filthy mind.

re: Jack Harkness is...

I picked "omnisexual slut", but actually I think he's an omnisexual slut who's just looking for someone who'll WUV him (and join him in threesomes).

re: Ianto's flat is...

I picked "huge mess", but actually I think it's more of a small mess most of the time. He's just some guy, you know?

*Could* you use a hockey stick for a spreader bar? No, wait, if they use it for hockey, it probably doesn't break so easily. Never mind.

re: Ianto's family are...

Ded from aliens?

'John is the poster-child of 'high-maintainence'.' Yeah. He's as high-maintainence as a pure-bred poodle.

'Unlike Gwen/Jack/Ianto. WRONG. Or Gwen/Jack. OMGWTFBBQ BEYOND WRONG.'
I just don't want to see Gwen cheat on Rhys...again; which is why I wouldn't mind Rhys/Gwen/Jack/Ianto. I bet Rhys is a cuddlier.

[identity profile] kakareen.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
*snerk* Poodles....

Ianto and Rhys interactions are always so *CUTE* in my head. They'd be coming up with rhyming names and bad puns together.... No one else has written it, so I guess I'm gonna have to sit down and make that foursome fic exist!

[identity profile] love-jackianto.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
'They'd be coming up with rhyming names and bad puns together....' Oh, that would be adorable :D

'No one else has written it, so I guess I'm gonna have to sit down and make that foursome fic exist!'
Yeah! I can make a request; since Ianto has canon!chest hair could you let Rhys and/or Jack and/or Gwen pet him.

[identity profile] nightspring.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
You're right of course, about not everyone seeing commitment/seriousness from Jack. On second thought, I guess it's the "both undecided" part that's tripping me up. I suppose my expectation is that for those who don't see commitment/seriousness from Jack, what they are seeing would be something like: "Ianto is more committed/serious than Jack, but they are both thinking about getting more serious."

I know, if you sat around trying to think up all possible variations for a poll like this, you'll never get it up! *g*

I don't think the little old lady would mind Jack having a key to her B&B... ;)

Hey, a girl has got to dream.

Whether it happens or not, I just love the idea that canon has yet to kill the idea. It's not like RTD and Co don't know about it. People were pretty boldly predicting it as soon as the stopwatch came up. I highly doubt it would happen, but Time Lord!Ianto is just such a cool idea.

[identity profile] inkvictus.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
but actually I think it's more of a small mess most of the time. He's just some guy, you know?

I totally agree with you on this. I ended up picking 'huge mess' as well. Why couldn't there have been an answer like 'Comfortably lived in but not a trash heap like Owen's?'

[identity profile] inkvictus.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, i wouldn't have seriously picked that anyway. I wasn't criticising, just poking fun at Owen mostly. If you were to put in answers to satisfy everyones point of view then we'd be here until the end of next season and then we wouldn't need a poll. But i think you should do another one. But not coz this one is inadequate- because it's not. It's freakin hilarious! But because we want more hilariosity. Plz?

Sorry to send you into caps lock breakdown ;)

Yup, reservesleutel

As for joined up words. That's because my mind doesn't work the same way as other Dutch people's minds work when it comes to English. I think in English most of the time, and only use Dutch when I can't (immediately) find the right English word, or when I'm distracted, like I was with the spare key comment.
My English grammar, therefore, is a lot better than my Dutch grammar. Always has been.

People who know me don't have a problem with it (most of the time), but people who don't know me are often quite annoyed when I change into English mid-sentence. (specially the ones who don't really understand it ... I didn't know those still existed)

That's what you get when you're dealing with fandom. Some people take their opinions much too seriously.

Ignore them. It's a magificent poll and obviously people like it.

If people chose LULZ over what they actually think them more power to them. You're absolutely right to include them and who gives a crap?
