The meme has a troll! Yay troll! I'd say trolling is bad but in this case I'm willing to make an exception. I still wish they would permanently turn IP logging on, A) so I can prove it's not me and B) because that would make anon wankers possibly stop being such fucking cunts to people. Not that it would, but still.
This week in memery, someone posted this:

on the meme for luls. Yes, the link went directly to the picture in my gallery, no context, nothing. (Context is here, btw, and the pic was made by whoever owns the fanbot.net domain.) Anyways, yeah, it weirds me out a bit when stuff of mine ("mine" in the loosest possible sense, obviously) is posted to the meme, especially when there's no context, and especially when it's as old as this, if only because it means that someone out there has been trawling either my archives or my galleries looking for something to repost at the meme. That someone is a dickhead, you know? Just sayin'.
Anyway, funnily enough, there was a comment to this pic on the meme that said something along the lines of "Why are you stalking her?" Her being me, obvs. I don't know who left that comment, but it would seem to be the one they call Meme Nanny. Meme Nanny has a point. Not that I feel particularly stalked on this occasion, but when it boils down to it, it is kind of obsessive and, above all, fucking pathetic. So there's that, picture posting anon. Why don't you just fuck off? (Just for more context, I post a lot of pictures on my livejournal, the vast majority of which are mine, but even if they're not, I always upload them into my own LJ gallery and credit them in the post I've uploaded them for, simply because I think linking to other people's galleries is a bit intrusive, and leeching bandwidth from other people's picture accounts is evil. This does, however, mean that anyone who keeps stats or anything like that on their pics would never know that I was reposting them on my journal. This bugs me a bit, because it also feels a bit evil, but it feels slightly less evil than grabbing images directly from other people's accounts. Which is why I always credit and link as much as I can. I don't really think either way is ideal. I've digressed on the sensitive topic of netiquette, I know. Sorry.)
Why am I still posting about the cesspit that is
who_anon? Well, quite simply, guys, there's people, like Trolly McTroll today, coming out of the woodwork now on that place who do seem to agree with me that the meme is full of anon wankers using their anonymity to be cunts about other fans. And while I might not agree with the manner in which those people express their distaste with the meme, and while I think those people should have the fucking balls to stop being anon already and just show themselves, on the other hand I can understand not wanting to reveal your name to your interwebs friends who might be on there. And with regards to trolling, I don't like it because I think it gives the mods a headache, but frankly when those same mods delete perfectly reasonable comments along the lines of "Why can't you people just be decent to other people?" I can well understand that after a while you'd just resort to trolling and being annoying. The mods have a pro-meme bias, which is understandable, but it's also bound to lead to this sort of shit. I've seen loads of comments on the meme this week telling anons off for being stalkery wankers, a lot of them are being deleted, but I have seen them, meme crusaders. I like to think that, simply because I just AM that famous and influential (right? right?), I played a small part in that. Not the trolling, mind. Trolling is bad, mkay? Well... lulsy and bad. I will now do a small snigger, but I'll hide it behind my hand so nobody sees, yeah? *snigger*
*waves at meme*
I never said anything about sunbeams, tossbag. As long as random anon wankers keep trawling my journal (and again, guys, what, like 10 minutes for the linkback? Pretty good going!) for no reason, I'm going to keep reading yours. It's fucking hilarious.

Hey OT but what have you heard about 13 episode 4th season confirmed, along with separate rumor that JB will NOT be in it?

The more it happens, the harder it is for anyone relatively sane - i.e., anyone who isn't driven by pure trollery and 24/7 love of wank for the sake of making other people unhappy - to either defend the Shoalies or participate in their little cesspit. They'd be wanking me too if any of my recent posts were more than me griping about the antibiotics (instead, the wee trolls have taken to retweeting links to my blog and alleging there's 'wank going on' - cute if the cowards think that's how to stir shit without me catching them at it).
I'm rather glad I've got the meme tracked by email at the moment. It's fascinating to get a record of exactly what kind of comments are being censored, including, as you say, utterly innocuous ones. I can understand why the overnight troll gave enough of a damn to try and have it out with them, even if the backlash bombed the shit out of my creaky inbox - but I don't think they need to worry anymore. The meme is dying. The only stuff that spikes activity there now is either grudge-stalking or Torchwank: even Nu Who doesn't get anyone much tickled up now, and every desperate thread started around Old Who themes has that tired, train-spottery feel of people at a dinner party who've run out of conversation - "Meme, which one of the Classic Doctors would you want to play Santa?" - that sort of static chuff.
I think things changed for the worse when Lolcoholic handed over the reins to Ionlylurkhere, who - away from her laughable 'impartial mod' claims on the meme, is happy to tell people who haven't even asked that she openly detests Torchwood and wishes it had never been connected to Who in any way. She also states quite clearly that she treats the meme as her very own Fandom Wank, a means for her to police the Whoniverse fandom so that it conforms to her tastes - "I realised quite a while back that it's much better to try and actually do something to change things rather than sit about whining about the state of fandom, and pretty much everything I've done [on the meme] that can't be ascribed to the short-term personal pleasure of doing it can be put at the feet of my desire to make fandom be more like the sort of place I would ideally like it to be." Which is kind of one in the nuts to any anon over there squeaking that IT'S ALL ABOUT THE LULZ SILLY and berating 'meme nanny' or 'fandom police' commenters there for allegedly trying to control what should and shouldn't be happening in the fandom.
So, whatever it used to be, who_anon now has a mod with explicit bias and an agenda she conveniently failed to publicise on the meme when she took over, combined with an increasing negative shift in the 'signal-to-noise' ratio, whereby the meme has little nowadays to offer to anyone interested in genuine fandom meta, or even good gossip (I haven't read 'heads-up' info on there in months now that I hadn't seen tweeted hours before), and the only significant traffic is generated when the meme falls back on its designated handful of 'OK to mock' individuals or subjects.
The way it's going now, it'll shrivel away all by itself, and for that reason alone I'd prefer anyone trying to challenge them directly there, in the hope of getting the meme to step back from degrading into who_troll_anon, to give it up and let the shoal of whores (it's the meme's preferred non-sexist term) to fester and die all by itself.
And any time they have another crack at me, I'll give that slow death a little helping nudge by posting about it and doing what the meme does to others, but loathes having done to itself - holding them up and displaying their hate agenda for a wider audience to appreciate, away from the censor-happy mods. And any time you, or anyone else, does the same thing, then it'll get my round of applause.

It is your LJ and your choice to write about what you like and how you like, of course. But I'm afraid I'm taking that word a bit personal, given how it's often used in a shitty, sexist way.
