FINALLY SOMEBODY BRINGS THE LOLS BACK TO TORCHWOOD

First spotted on the meme, obvs. You think I don't skim that thing for luls (few and far between though they may be lately), you'd be wrong!

My personal headline:
GARETH DAVID-LLOYD HOSTS PARTY, FUCKS ATTENDEES, SINK INVOLVED. PONY CONTRIBUTIONS INEXPLICABLY RISE IN UNRELATED COINCIDENCE, SALACIOUS TWEETS DISAPPEAR. STILL NO PIC OF COCK, WHELK SAD.

I was going to do a post about something GDL said at Dragon Con in a panel, and I still will, but for now I leave you with the news that he's been sticking his dick in fangirls! Well, I mean, obviously this isn't the first time he's been sticking his dick in fangirls, but Twitter really has taken off in the past year or so hasn't it?

Social networking will be the death of celebrity as we know it.

Conclusion: 140 characters is not enough to accurately describe GDL's cock. DAMN YOU! Someone find me a picture.

I honestly hope he doesn't end up in Norma Desmond land as far as Ianto is concerned and that he does get more work going forward. (Obviously that hope is agenda driven as well, but I think it would be a win/win for everyone, except the people for whom TW is only Ianto or J/I.)

The shirt may be a gift, but wearing it is still a statement. As you say the boy is between a rock and a hard place and to mix a metaphor, I think he's starting to feel the sharper side of the double edged sword regarding the source of his current fame and whatever appeal he might have to the suits in Hollywood for future work, especially mainstream television or even popcorn movie stuff.

I started to like Ianto/Gareth long before the Jack/Ianto relationship became a big thing. Ianto is the type of fictional character I've fancied for over 20 years, no same sex kissing required.

RTD was interested in Gareth before Jack/Ianto had even been created, so hopefully it's a sign that Gareth CAN appeal to audiences beyond Torchwood if he puts some real effort in. And he was starting to get tired of being asked "what's it like to kiss John Barrowman" a long time ago.

Getting into Hollywood is very difficult for any British actor, even Burn Gorman has apparently spent some time over there and I've yet to hear of whether he's had any success.

I wish all of them the best, but I think that Gareth may have a slightly harder row to hoe, possibly along the lines (in a minor way) of Leonard Nimoy, immediately post Trek.

Appropos of nothing but my happy memories, Burn was amazing in Oliver, giving a lot of shading to a role that can be played as extremely one-note. I think since he appears to be more targeted at character work, he might (after John, of course) be the one to have the most productive post-TW career, although he might not crack the Hollywood market either.

It'll be extremely interesting to see if the whole Desperate Housewives thing actually happens for Barrowman and whether the part is another Hotel Babylon camp-fest or something more straight, whether the character is or not.
