ONE FROM THE ROAD...

Why does shit always go down in a week when I leave the country?

See, the thing about a certain faction of fans is that they seem to equate Gareth's stated love of working on Torchwood with a stated desire to stay on Torchwood for any length of time.

Having said that, spoiler make me do sadfayce, even though I'd been predicting and expecting it. :(

I now give spoiler about 97% certainty. *sniff*

(Edit to clarify, no, Gareth hasn't said anything, though, in true Gareth style, he didn't exactly NOT say anything either. I am referring to a lovely holiday-style time I spent reading and researching spoilers on the OG, where about three seperate sources are now citing having read and even seen spoiler play out on screen. Bum.)

Edit to add quickly before I swan off: Not that I'm going to say I told you so or anything. I would never do that.

It won't be proven till it appears on screen. Besides which, sometimes rumors play out exactly as stated, but not at all as you expected.

Does this substantially change the Epic Ianto Meta you were talking about?

(Honestly, I see my interest in Torchwood fading to near non-existence if the worst case scenario turns out to be true.)

We like what we like. It can't be helped. (Not 'shallow,' just aware of what'll be lost, and the loathsome possibilities it would open up. :P)

We could descend in powerful numbers on the BBC Wales HQ and tie bunny-ears in all their shoes.

Or, if it was Gareth's idea, bunny-ears him, then take away his butts and beer and make him cry like Ianto.

Unless, of course, the exit is an entrance somewhere else. Somewhere FABULOUS.

"Unless, of course, the exit is an entrance somewhere else. Somewhere FABULOUS."

I don't have the cash for a trip to Wales. :P So, I'm going to hang onto your last thought (for Ianto or for Gareth). Because, even if The Spoiler is true, it could be reversed (as some suspect happened once already in Cyberwoman), and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Gareth in another role.

Oh yes, I'm not tremendously worried, on account of Jack's SPESHUL SKILZZ.

I'm an optimist like that.

I'd love to see him in a great supporting role in a great movie.

Same here, IF it turns out to be true. I have no interest in the Jack/Gwen show (if they kill off Ianto that will probably be what Torchwood will become). I know they're probably killing off characters to seem edgy, but killing off three of the five original cast members, so quickly after one another, seems kind of ridiculous.

Yes, killing off more than half of the cast, in what would be the space of six episodes (or less), does seem a mind-numbingly stupid move for an ensemble show. Unless, of course, the producers prefer to think of it as something like The Jack And Gwen Show - but, yeah, I don't think that show would have any staying power.

'Yes, killing off more than half of the cast, in what would be the space of six episodes (or less), does seem a mind-numbingly stupid move for an ensemble show.'
Not to mention most people's reactions would probably be 'Oh look, they killed off ANOTHER character. What else is on?'. You can only kill of so many characters until people just stop caring.

'The Jack And Gwen Show - but, yeah, I don't think that show would have any staying power.'
Yeah, one of the things I've always found interesting about Ianto is that we don't know a lot about him, but what else is there to learn about Gwen; we've already met her parents, met her friends, found out how she and Rhys met and seen her angst over cheating on Rhys.

I'm sure they'll have new cast members, but it would be ridiculous to kill off Ianto (unless of course he wants to leave) but... in that case, his character doesn't have to die. He could come back periodically, as Martha does.

"We see enough death."

Yes. Hello. Enough death!

*gasp* I think my heart actually skipped a beat in horror at the prospect of the Jack And Gwen Show. That could go awful, awful places.

I agree - nothing is proven until it's seen. Honestly the internet make me more skeptical. You've got someone who only ever posts to brag about having insider info who's currently on their third insider because the spoilers their first two gave were proven to be bullcrap but "oh I swear this is a new insider and this one's legit". Someone who knows someone who saw an early script which overnight went from "I heard about it but don't know any details but I can ask" to "I know all about the early script but won't give the details because all my info comes from one early draft and things change" and 2 days later to "my posts=absolute confirmed spoilers and I'm now privy to multiple drafts but I won't give details because things could still change but I know for a fact they won't change him dying" (although that happened in Reset where the last-minute change was who died.) A few months ago everyone was debating about Micky and Martha with posters claiming all sorts like the poster who said Freema told them personally she'd filmed 2 eps.

It wouldn't surprise me plot-wise if Ianto did die (I have not heard anything either way) but in principle whenever I see anyone doing the old "everyone look at me I am totally an big sekrit insider and can tell you huge spoilers but no details or I'd get into trouble/don't want to spoil people OMG how dare you not believe me because anonymous net posts=absolute proof" it makes me doubt almost anything I read online.

I predict that even if Ianto gets fed into a woodchipper there will be fans arguing that they will find a way to bring him back, or that Jack will find a way because Ianto's his tru wuv, and that the resulting debate will rage until S4 airs.
