Yes, the audience loves it when their hero is unable or unwilling to SIT THE FUCK DOWN and tell their hero-worshipping, mortgage-desiring, wedding-dress-fancying companion that yes, they can offer them time-space luls/UNIT-based roleplay, but THAT'S IT, so get over it already, take what's on offer or piss off. The audience prefers their heroes to string the doe-eyed love interests along indefinitely with vague promises and glimmers of hope that they have no intention of following up on, until the Clueless Ones inevitably die/get stuck in a parallel universe, still high on promises of what could have been.
