I know that 'Jones' is a common Welsh name, but I don't know if it's as popular here in the States anymore? My first flash was totally an initial hackles raised of 'oh reaaaalllly, RTD?' for both the pedo fact of it (not a sexual fetish I think should be glorified just for the sake of 'dramatic tv') but also that it seemed a bit of a needling, especially post Coffee-gate and what not.

Considering the lingering fan-sensitivity of the original Jones lad's exit, to now give his surname -again, perhaps unintentionally, perhaps not- to a convicted pedophile who only squirmed out on a technicality seems a kick in the proverbial teeth :O

Agreed. I still remember before CoE aired and everyone and their mum kept telling me that there was no way Ianto would be killed off because he was such a popular character. Boy, did I have the last laugh.

Heh! My brain wants to go with very good hoax because I can't imagine this kind of storyline, if it turns out to be true, in this particular show being anything, but exploitive and designed for shock value and that just makes my skin crawl a little,but to be honest if anyone had told me that one of the villains in s3 would be a group of junky aliens that get off on being hooked to pre-adolescent children I'd have thought that was a joke too so clearly what do I know about what these minds will or won't come up with.

I prefer to just laugh at it, right now. But, in a fucked-up way, a murderous-child-molester-holding-the-fate-of-the-world IS the next 'logical' step after the child--torture-and-killing-to-save-the-world that wrapped up CoE. And it does seem that RTD needs to add 'more punch' to each successive season of his linked projects. lol.

Can I cross my fingers in favor of it turning RTD into a modern day Ed Wood, at least? Because there are SO many ways that tiny bit of cast description being fer real could go SO wrong. And likely will for me, regardless of popular opinion.

That's why as improbable as it sounds at this stage I wouldn't be surprised if it was in fact true because when I think about it it isn't really that much of a step away from what we got in s3.
