Even if Ianto was getting suicidal, would that justify Jack's lack of a plan and his total disregard for basic safety? He should still have said 'you are not coming with me!' in that case even more than ever.
And then they didn't give a thought about all the other people inside Thames House either. They obviously knew very well the setting was dangerous as they were watching what was going on so it's understandable if Ianto knew he was going to face a possibly dangerous situation - not sure death - but at least he had the excuse that he trusted Jack's experience.
Anyway the whole confront with the alien sucks a big deal as I'm not sure what exactly both Jack and Ianto were doing when they were shooting the bullet proof glass... I would have loved it if Thames House was not airtightly sealed and the virus or the gas would have escaped from the broken glass so that half of London population (Queen included) would have died :)
